<![CDATA[ABA-M483 - Ring Dropper]]> https://www.abaltd.com/blog/ABA-M483_blog/ Our quart sized ring dropping machine, ABA-M483, is designed to place sealing rings on top of filled quart containers. This machine places both ArmLok and Normlock over rings. It functions in a similar fashion to our lid dropping machines wherein a sensor is triggered when the filled and lidded can passes beneath the unit, and it drops an sealing ring onto the top of that lidded container as a result. This unit is specifically for use with quart-sized over rings.

<![CDATA[ABA-M478 - Net Weight, Rotary Tables, LDHS]]> https://www.abaltd.com/blog/ABA-M478_blog/ ABA-M478 is a net weight paint filling machine designed for use in a non-hazardous area, model ABA-FILL-TFGEA. This liquid filling machine was supplied with both an infeed and an outfeed rotary table in addition to a lid dropper with downstacker for extra capacity and a roller lid press.

ABA-M478 - Net Weight Filling Machine with Rotary Tables

This machine features both an infeed and an outfeed rotary table to help with streamlining the fill process. Both tables are 60" in diameter and are constructed with a plated circular feed table and Teflon on container contact points to prevent marking. The infeed table allows the operator to pre-load large quantities of containers at the start of the line to ensure a steady feed of containers to the fill area. The outfeed table, also known as a collation table, collects filled and lidded containers and can store a large number of them which prevents the fill line from backing up while the operator unloads and packs.

Our high speed lid dropper, the ABA-LDHS, drops both metal and plastic lids from 1/2 pint through 1 gallon size. This unit is mounted to our roller lid presses and exhibits speeds of 60+ lids per minute. The standard vertical hopper holds 24" capacity, but this machine was supplied with our optional downstacker which provides 72" of capacity. These lid placers are easily adjustable - height adjustment is achieved by the crank handle on the lid press, and the size changeover of the lid dropper itself is achieved with easy to use kipp handles. Interchangeable starwheels provide lid alignment when necessary, and the lid dropper can feature pneumatic or eletronic controls.

Lid press model ABA-PRESS-1NAR is a one gallon non-powered roller lid press designed for pressing lids on half pint through 1 gallon containers. These units are easily height adjustable with a crank handle located on one side of the unit and the height adjustment mechanisms are safely covered with a stainless steel sheet metal cover.

<![CDATA[ABA-M474/M75 - Dual Track Volumetric Filling Machines]]> https://www.abaltd.com/blog/ABA-M474andM475_blog/ ABA-M474 and ABA-M475 are dual track paint filling machines which are both designed for C1D1 intrinsically safe environments. The twin tracks are set up such that each track has 2 fill heads, one lid placer, and one lid dropper. These are volumetric fillers with 1 gallon double acting volumetric piston pumps and fill from 1/2 pint through 1 gallon containers.

ABA-M474 - Dual Track, C1D1, Volumetric Filling Machine

Intrinsically safe filling machines are designed for use in areas which need to meet C1D1 or C1D2 standards. ABA offers a wide variety of filling machines to meet those standards, both volumetric and net weight.

ABA-'s 1 gallon volumetric pumps, ABA-80, are constructed with stainless steel and Teflon wetted parts and cast end caps, tees, and elbows. They are designed to fill from 1/2 pint to 5 quarts in a single cycle and, like all of the pumps we manufacture at ABA, are double acting. Double acting pumps have liquid on both sides of the piston cup to prevent drying out of product and to prolong the life of all of the parts and the pump itself. Double acting pumps are more efificient than single acting pumps and ABA offers them in both 1 gallon and 5 gallon sizes.

ABA-M475 - Paint Filling Machine, Volumetric, Twin Track, C1D1

Our lid droppers, ABA-LDHS, are high speed units for metal and plastic lids which are not standalone and are therefore mounted to our roller lid press. These lid droppers can accomodate 1/2 pint through gallon container sizes and have simple size changeover using kipp handles. Standard vertical lid hopper has 24" capacity but can also be supplied with an optional 72" downstacker for extra capacity. On these machines, the lid droppers are automatically controlled by the HMI to raise up out of the way if the selected recipe requires the use of the lid placers. When such a recipe is chosen, the lid droppers rise up enough so that they will not catch the already lidded containers as they pass beneath them. When a recipe is selected which does require the use of the lid droppers, they automatically will lower back down for use.

Each of these machines are equipped with roller lid presses, our ABA-PRESS-5NAR 5 gallon roller lid press to be precise. These are non-powered roller lid presses with gradually declining steel rollers designed to press lids onto containers from pint through 6 gallon pails. These can press both plastic and metal lids and have simple height adjustment using a crank handle located on one corner of the unit.

Lid Placers, such as the ABA-LPHSC-5's featured on these two machines, are designed with the placement of larger size lids in mind. These units feature adjustable release paddles which allow for the placment of round, square, or rectangular lids and are height adjustable using simple crank handles. The chute based design of these lid placers is designed with automatic priming to keep the chute full and ready for the next container as well as low lid and no lid notifications.

<![CDATA[ABA-M473 - Volumetric Bottom Fill Semi-Automatic]]> https://www.abaltd.com/blog/ABA-M473_blog/ ABA-M473 is a volumetric filling machine with our one gallon pump, ABA-80. This machine is designed to bottom fill containers, especially jugs, and is semi-automatic.

ABA's one gallon volumetric pump, the ABA-80, is a double acting piston pump with gravity check valves designed to fill from 1/2 pint through 5 quarts in one single cycle. As with all of our pumps, we utilize high quality stainless steel and Teflon wetted parts and cast end caps, tees and elbows. We only offer double acting pumps, which means that product is always on both sides of the piston which prolongs the life of the pump and parts, but also makes the pump more efficient.

<![CDATA[ABA-M468 - 6 Head Z-Frame Net Weight C1D2]]> https://www.abaltd.com/blog/ABA-M468_blog/ ABA-M468 is a net weight paint filling machine for a hazardous area to meet C1D2 standards. This machine features 6 fill heads and a z-frame (push across) conveyor design. This machine was also supplied with the following:

  • Top off system using our ABA-COV-100 fill head. This topoff design was made with the idea in mind that the depositing of anti-skimming agent would be done more gently from a fill head compared to a nozzle. As with all of our top off systems, this one releases a small amount of anti-skinning agent onto the surface of a filled container before it passes under the lidding portion of the machine.
  • Lid dropper with downstacker - Our LDHS lid dropper is designed for dropping plastic and metal lids onto filled containers and can accomodate from 1/2 pint through gallon containers. Simple size changeover using ratchet handles and h eight adjustment via the lid press crank handle make this unit easy to use and change. This is not a standalone machine, and must be mounted to a lid press. These units reach speeds of 60+ lids per minute and have a standard vertical hopper of 24 inch capacity. This machine was supplied with a downstacker for additional capacity which amounts to an extra 72 inches.
  • Roller lid press - This machine was supplied with our one gallon roller lid press, ABA-PRESS-1NAR. This lid press is fully height adjustable from 1/2 pint through gallon container sizes and has a simple size changeover using a crank handle located on the corner of the press. A stainless steel sheet metal cover safely guards the chains and sprockets and the rollers are steel and mounted on stainless steel shafts.
  • Additional fill carts with tanks used to prevent cross contamination and allow for simple cleaning of fill heads and product contact areas so that filling is not interrupted.

<![CDATA[ABA-M471 - Top Fill, Net Weight, Rotary Tables]]> https://www.abaltd.com/blog/ABA-M471_blog/ ABA-M471 is a two head neight weight filling machine which was supplied with both infeed and outfeed rotary tables, a lid dropper, and a roller lid press.

This net weight paint filling machine was designed for an area which did not have to meet any explosion proof standards (ABA-FILL-TFGEA) and although this is a two head machine, it is not a swing head design. The fill carriage is still height adjustable, but the heads do not swing to the rear of the machine. This gallon filling machine was also designed to accomodate smaller sizes such as pints and quarts and has our narrow conveyor size, ABA-CONV-6.5.

ABA-M471 - 2 head, Net Weight Paint Filling Machine

Our high speed lid dropper, ABA-LDHS, is designed to place lids on containers from 1/2 pint through gallons and can accomodate both plastic and metal lids. These are not standalone units and must be mounted to a lid press. They can be controlled either electronically on pnuematically and have speeds of 60+ lids per minute. Standard hopper size is 24" capacity but can be supplied with a downstacker for an additional 72" capacity.

The one gallon roller lid press, ABA-PRESS-1NAR, supplied with this machine is designed to press lids onto containers from 1/2 pint through 1 gallon. As with all the roller lid presses we supply, this one features a hand crank for height adjustment, steel rollers on stainless steel shafts, and a stainless steel sheet metal guard to cover the chain and sprockets used for adjusting the height.

This liquid filling machine was supplied with both an infeed and an outfeed rotary table. The infeed table allows operators to preload a large quantity of containers and keep the machine running smoothly and continuously. The outfeed or collation table holds the already filled containers until they are ready to be boxed, put on a pallet, or moved to the next step in the factory's process.

<![CDATA[Top-Off Systems]]> https://www.abaltd.com/blog/Top_Off_blog/ For customers filling skimming-prone paint products into plastic containers, Anthony Barber Associates offers two different styles of top-off systems which deliver glycol, water, or another type of anti-skimming product to the surface of filled containers before they are lidded.

ABA-TOPOFF

These are available with interchangeable spray nozzles and can be supplied with either pneumatic or electronic controls. Topoff nozzles can be singular or in pairs on the fill line depending upon how much liquid needs to be deposited and on the size of the containers. The nozzles are highly accurate and can deliver the anti-skimming agent in a quick burst with high speeds.

ABA-TOPOFF-COV-100

This style of topoff system utilizes our ABA-COV-100 fill head which was originally designed for filling smaller can sizes such as pints. Utilizing a cone style fill head in a top-off system is a highly efficient method and because it has the cone opening, it means that the anti-skimming agent is released more gently and is therefore not forceful enough to break the surface of the liquid. This is especially useful in applications where the agent should not penetrate the filled container.

For additional information on either of the topoff options we offer or for any further information regarding other paint filling machines and equipment, please call us today at 803-396-0621, email sales@abaltd.com, or complete a request a quote form on our website.

<![CDATA[Lid Placer vs. Semi-Auto Chute]]> https://www.abaltd.com/blog/Placer_vs_Chute_Blog/ When it comes to placing 5 gallon lids, we offer two main options – our high speed lid placer, the ABA-LPHSC-5, and our semi-automatic lid chute, the ABA-PLCR-CHUTE.

The fully automatic lid placer, ABA-LPHSC-5, can be supplied fully integrated into a filling line or with individual controls so that it may be added to any fill line or moved between them.

ABA-LPHSC-5 high speed lid placer

The chute based design self-centers lids on the containers as they pass below and can accommodate different sizes and shapes of lids such as rectangular or square. The operator simply pre-loads the hopper of the machine and the machine will automatically pick lids and place them on the chute. These units are also optionally available with lid bung orientation systems which spin lids until they reach the desired position in relation to the pail’s handles and then release them. The chute stays automatically replenished and the machine comes with a low stack monitor on the hopper so the operator has time to reload, or allow it to run out when a fill cycle has been completed. The machine will automatically stop containers when it is out of lids.

Our semi-automatic lid chute, the ABA-PLCR-CHUTE, is designed to be a perfect middle ground between the fully automatic lid placer, and manual placement of lids by hand.

Semi-Automatic Lid Chute

The design on this is such that an operator can pre-load lids onto the chute and then leave to tend to other machine and cycle components before having to return to replenish the chute. As with the fully automatic model, adjustable escapements ensure that it can handle different shaped lids such as round, square, and rectangular and the machine can also accommodate both metal and plastic lids.

For additional information on these two lid placers or for any information on any of our other filling machines and equipment, please call us at (803) 396-0621, or email us at sales@abaltd.com.

Our filling machines are also available in intrinsically safe versions for either Class 1 Division 1 (C1D1) or Class 1 Division 2 (C1D2) areas.

ABA-M450 - Net Weight Filling Machine, ABA-M439 Volumetric Filling Machine

Lid Closing and Lid Placing

Lid Closing - under the category of lid closing, we have a range of lid presses and lid crimpers to cover both plastic and metal containers of a variety of sizes and shapes. Our roller lid presses come in either one-gallon or five-gallon sizes and use the motive force of the conveyor to assist with pressing lids on. Our powered presses have their own motor to help push containers through and press lids on firmly. Our lid crimpers are designed for closing metal pails and can be mounted to either indexing conveyors or continuously moving conveyors.

Lid Closers - Presses and Crimpers

Lid Placing - for smaller lid sizes, we offer our LDHS lid dropper, and for larger lid sizes, we have either a semi-automatic lid placer chute or a fully automatic lid placer. The lid droppers have a hopper for the lids to be loaded into (and are optionally available with an extended hopper called a downstacker) and drop a lid onto a container as it passes beneath it. The lid droppers are not freestanding and are therefore mounted to a press. The lid placer and placer chutes are both designed for 5-gallon lids and use a chute based design as well as the motive force of the conveyor to help place lids.

Lid Placing - Lid Placer and Lid Dropper

Volumetric Pumps

We build both 1- and 5-gallon volumetric pumps with either gravity check valves or powered check valves. All of our pumps are double acting, meaning that there is always liquid on both sides of the piston. This design ensures a long life for all the parts, less wear, and a more efficient pump overall. Our pumps are easy to maintain and clean and easy to set up and changeover. We prioritize not only simplicity of use, but also efficiency, and aim for all of our pumps (and products) to meet both criteria.

ABA-2000 - 5 Gallon Volumetric Pump

Fill Heads

Our high-quality fill heads have been used throughout the industry in a wide array of applications, and often to replace competitors' heads, which were not working to a satisfactory level.

Our fill heads fall into one of three categories:

1. Cone style - these fill heads are some of the best in the industry and have great success with both thick and thin problems. These heads eliminate the problem of stringing, which is often associated with capillary tube style heads.

Cone Style Fill Head

2. Diving Lance (Probe style) - these fill heads are best suited for tight neck containers or for filling foaming or explosion-prone products - bottom fill mode.

Lance Style Fill Head

3. Direct Flow style - these fill heads are designed to fill restricted opening containers (such as those with screw caps) from a top fill mode.

Direct Flow Fill Head

Accessories

We are pleased to offer both rotary infeed and outfeed tables as well as topoff systems designed to deliver small amounts of anti-skimming agents to filled containers. Our rotary tables are useful for holding a large number of either empty or filled containers (depending on whether they are infeed or outfeed) which keeps the filling line moving quickly and efficiently and causes less stress for operators. We offer two different topoff types, one with nozzles (shown on top) and one with our COV-100 fill head (shown on bottom).

<![CDATA[ABA-M458 - Lid Placer]]> https://www.abaltd.com/blog/ABA-M458_blog/ ABA-M458 is ABA's model ABA-LPHSC-5 high speed lid placer unit which was supplied with independent controls. This means that the lid placer can be utilized on its own or in conjunction with another fill line. These lid placers are desinged to place either plastic or metal lids of a variety of sizes (rectangular, square, and round). The lid placer has a chute based design which self-centers the lids on the containers as they pass below it and adjustable release paddles. The lid chute is automatically primed and ready for the next container and the hopper has a large capacity, reducing the need for regular reloads. The hopper also notifies the operator of low lid stacks and will automatically stop when it runs out of lids completely.

This lid placer was designed for a two head filling machine and for a small footprint area and is therefore a smaller size than our typical 5 gallon lid placer units. This machine is also for use in a C1D2 (Class 1 Division 2) hazardous area.

ABA-M458 - High Speed Lid Placer for Liquid Filling Machines

This model also came with lid bung orientation which allows the operator to program the machine to stop spinning the lid at a specific point to line the bung up correctly for consumer pouring at a later time.

This machine was supplied with a conveyor section which goes beneath the lid placer to convey the filled containers through to be lidded. This entire unit can therefore be placed anywhere on a fill line as it has its own independent controls and conveyor section and can be integrated to an existing machine easily and moved around where necessary.

<![CDATA[ABA-M457 - Top Fill, Semi-Automatic, Net Weight Filling Machine]]> https://www.abaltd.com/blog/ABA-M457_blog/ ABA-M457 is a net weight, semi-automatic, top fill, paint filling machine which was designed for a C1D1 area. This machine has two fill heads but one set of wetted parts to avoid cross contamination, and has a mechanical vairable speed drive with a roller lid press mounted to it.

ABA-M457 - top fill, net weight, semi-automatic filling machine for C1D1

Having two fill heads but one set of wetted parts has been an extremely practical solution for many of our customers who have products with two parts which cannot be mixed or cross-contaminated. This system helps to keep costs down by not supplying a two head machine, but prevents those two products from reaching one another for more efficient and safer fills. With this system, only one fill head can fill at any given time, and the operator uses a switch to change from one fill head to the other.

The mechanical variable speed drive is a cost effective solution for a C1D1 area. The conveyor is activated and deactivated using a manual motor starting switch mounted above the conveyor and the speed is controlled by turning the handle on the gearbox located at the rear of the conveyor. The handle tightens or loosens the belt in order to increase or decrease speed.

Our 5 gallon roller lid press, ABA-PRESS-5NAR, is a non-powered roller lid press which is designed for pressing lids on from pint through 6 gallon pails. The press is fully height adjustable using a hand crank with chain and sprockets which is safely covered with a stainless steel metal guard cover.

<![CDATA[Is A Volumetric Machine Right For You?]]> https://www.abaltd.com/blog/volumetric_right-blog/ Is a volumetric filling machine right for your fill application?

ABA-M452 - Top Fill Volumetric Filling Machine

Wondering if a volumetric filling machine or a net weight filling machine would best suit your fill needs and environment? Read on to find out the reasons why a volumetric machine may be the best fit.

- You want fast fill speeds. Volumetric filling machines tend to be faster than their head for head net weight counterparts due to less technology and equipment being involved in the fill process. There is no pausing and weighing time included in the cycle (as is the case with net weight fillers). Our double acting piston pumps are incredibly efficient and have liquid on both sides of the piston which not only increases the lifespan of parts, it means they require less stroke lengths to completely fill containers.

- You want an easy to use machine. Without the large technical component of a net weight machine, volumetric filling machines are typically easier to use, control, and adjust. The fill volume on a pump is easily achieved using clearly marked turrets or hand wheels.

- You want a more budget-friendly machine solution. Due to the fact that volumetric machines feature less equipment (especially costly electronics), they tend to be a more cost-effective filling solution than net weight filling machines.

<![CDATA[Drum Filling Machines]]> https://www.abaltd.com/blog/Drum_Filling_Machines_blog/ ABA-M335 is a semi-automatic, top fill, net weight drum filling machine with a gravity roller conveyor. This machine is designed to fill open top containers with a high level of accuracy. It features electronic controls and a touch screen HMI on our movable pendant arm for easy operator access.

ABA-M335 - Semi-automatic drum filling machine

This semi-automatic machine mode, ABA-TFGES-DRUM, requires that the operator both move the drum into place and move it out of the filling area once the filling is completed. The gravity roller conveyor is heavy duty and durable and makes the task of moving these heavy drums much easier and far more efficient.

ABA-M387 is a net weight, top fill, 2-head, and fully automatic drum filling machine designed for a C1D1 explosion-proof area. The pop-up conveyors on this machine assist with transporting the drums to the fill stations. AS the drums are conveyed on initially, pop up conveyor section directs the drums into the two fill stations and allow two more drums to be waiting behind them. This increases the speed and efficiency of the machine and works in conjunction with the alternating fill stations to ensure that the machine is continuously filling drums.

ABA-M387 - Automatic Net Weight Drum Filling Machine

The alternating fill stations were designed as such to keep a continuous flow of high viscosity extruded product to the drums. The alternators work as such: the machine fills lane 1 and lane 2 is conveyed into place. As lane 1 finishes and the drum is conveyed out of the fill area, lane 2 begins to fill. While lane 2 is filling, the drum is conveyed into lane 1, so it is ready to start filling as soon as lane 2 finishes, and so on. This is an extremely efficient system and creates maximum throughput on this machine.

ABA-M387 also features our new ABA-COV-85BO fill heads, which have built-in air shear (blow off), or nitrogen purge technology. These cone style fill heads were explicitly designed with high viscosity products in mind. When the fill is completed, the forced air helps to blow off or to shear the products from the cone. This is a very effective way to prevent product being hung up or dropping after the container has moved away.

Please contact us today at email sales@abaltd.com for more information or if you have any questions regarding these or any of the liquid filling machines and equipment we offer.

<![CDATA[ABA-M450 - Top Fill, Net Weight Filling Machine]]> https://www.abaltd.com/blog/ABA-M450_blog/ ABA-M450 is a net weight filling machine designed for a C1D1 hazardous environment. This 4 head, top fill, pail filling machine features a lid placer with bung orientation, a roller lid press, and dual lid crimpers.

ABA-M450 -Top Fill, Net Weight, Top Off, Lid Placer, Lid Press, Lid Crimper, C1D1

Intrinsically safe filling machines are designed to fill in hazardous environments and remain safe for operators and employees. At Anthony Barber Associates, we have a line of explosion proof machines designed for C1D1 (Class 1 Division 1) and C1D2 (Class 1 Division 2) areas. We manufacture both fully and semi-automatic machines to meet intrinsically safe standards as well as offering both net weight and volumetric filling machines.

Our ABA-COV-100 fill head is used on this machine as a topoff system, ABA-TOPOFF-COV-100. It is located immediately following the fill area and preceding the lidding. As the filled containers pass beneath it, it delivers a quick burst of an anti-skimming agent to the top of the liquid. This fill head is a cone style fill head and that means that it releases the anti-skimming agent more gently and it will not forcefully break the surface of the liquid, meaning that it stays on the surface where it is the most effective.

Our high speed lid placer, ABA-LPHSC-5, can be supplied with a bung orientation system, as is present on this machine. This chute based lid placer self-centers lids on the containers as they pass beneath it, feature adjustable release paddles which allow for the placement of round, square, or rectangular lids, and automatically primes the chute to keep it full and ready for the next container. The lid bung orientation rotates the lid until it detects the bung and stops the lid at the pre-determined point.

The 5 gallon roller lid press, ABA-PRESS-5NAR, uses 32 gradually declining steel rollers to firmly press on lids and is fully height adjustable from 1 pint through 6 gallon containers. The hand crank on the corner of the unit allows for simple height adjustment, and the sprockets and chains which allow the press to raise and lower are safely covered by a stainless steel sheet metal cover.

This machine is also being supplied with a 105 gallon stainless steel product tank

Dual lid crimpers on this liquid filling machine accomodate the metal lids for 5 gallon pails that the roller lid press doesn't handle. The crimpers are fully surrounded by a metal mesh enclosure with a safety door access on the front of the machine. These are single stage electronic crimpers with custom closing tools to fit our customer's containers.

<![CDATA[ABA-M439- Volumetric, C1D1, Lid Placer with Orientation, Crimper]]> https://www.abaltd.com/blog/ABA-M439_blog/ ABA-M439 is a two head volumetric filling machine designed to meet C1D1 standards for a hazardous environment. This pail filling machine features a lid placer with bung orientation, a lid crimper, fume extraction enclosure, and 5 gallon double acting piston pumps.

ABA-M439 - Top Fill, Volumetric Filler, C1D1, Lid Placer, Lid Crimper, Fume Extraction Enclosure

This paint filling machine will be placed in a hazardous filling environment and is therefore made to meet C1D1 (Class 1 Division 1) standards. ABA offers a wide range of intrinsically safe filling machines, from fully to semi-automatic and both volumetric and net weight. Like many of our C1D1 machines, ABA-M439 features an intrinsically safe mouse to use in place of the touch screen HMI in order to prevent any static buildup. This is a simple way to navigate the screens safely and efficiently.

The 5 gallon lid placer unit is designed for placing either plastic or metal 5 gallon lids. The chute on this machine is also outfitted with a lid bung orientation system to bring the bung to an exact location as specified by the customer. Adjustable release paddles at the end of the chute allow for the placement of round, square, and rectangular lids, making this a very versitile piece of equipment. Automatic lid priming keeps the chute full and ready for the next container, and the hopper is equipped with low and no lid sensors. The machine will notify the operator when there is a low lid stack and will automatically stop when it runs out of lids.

This machine is also being supplied with a fume extraction enclosure which surrounds the filling and lid placing area. This enclosure protects workers from breathing in fumes and vapors.

The 5 gallon metal lid crimper is a single stage electronic crimper which is fully surrounded by protective mesh and can be accessed via a door at the front of the machine.

Anthony Barber Associates' 5 gallon pumps, the ABA-2000, provide the filling power on this machine. These hard-working and highly efficient pumps are double acting, fully adjustable, and easy to clean and maintain. They feature cast end caps, elbows and tees and stainless steel and Teflon wetted parts. A stroke adjustment handle allows the operator to make quick and easy volume changes.

<![CDATA[Different Types of Fill Heads]]> https://www.abaltd.com/blog/Different_Fill_Heads_blog/ ABA offers three distinct types of fill heads, each offering their own advantages for specific fill requirements.

  1. Cone Style Fill Head - Our innovative cone style fill heads accomodate every industry and a wide range of products. They eliminate the stringing problems associated with capillary tube style heads and provide a clean cut off when they snap closed. ABA offers a variety of sizes with dairy style inlets and also offer available flus attachments. The opening can be quickly and easily adjusted anywhere from fully closed to a full one inch opening using the adjustable stroke air cylinder. Our model ABA-COV-100 is a small cone style fill head designed to fill pint cans, while our ABA-COV-85 is more likely to be used on a pail filling machine for filling 5 gallon pails. ABA-COV-85A - Cone style fill head
  2. Diving Lance Style Fill Head - ABA's diving lance (probe) style fill heads are designed for filling tight head containers and/or those with static prone or foaming products. These fill heads are mounted on a fill carriage which is controlled by either a Servo motor or a pneumatic air cylinder. As the fill cycle begins, the carriage lowers the lances to the bottom of the container and keeps the head submerged as the product fills and the carriage slowly rises. The submerged head prevents static buildup and excessive foaming. ABA-COV-BC-0.75-19 - Diving Lance Style Fill Head
  3. Direct Flow Style Fill Head - The direct flow style fill head are best for those applications that require a liquid to be filled into a tight neck container, but do not require the precision of a diving lance fill head. These are ideal solutions for both top filling screw top containers and also for use in a top-off system with nitrogen or water. Due to the direct flow style, the spread of liquid during filling is small and is therefore also an ideal candidate for filling half pint containers.

<![CDATA[ABA-M449 - Top and Bottom fill, Net Weight, C1D1 Machine]]> https://www.abaltd.com/blog/ABA-M449_blog/ ABA-M449 is a four head, bottom fill, net weight paint filling machine designed for a C1D1 hazardous environment and also features a product tank.

This bottom fill filling machine was designed not only for a C1D1 environment to avoid static buildup, but also to fill tight neck containers and jugs. For simplicity in a C1D1 area, this machine features an intrinsically safe mouse to navigate the HMI, a far more efficient solution to the "pin push" touchscreens.

ABA-M449 - Top and Bottom Fill, Diving Lance, C1D1, Net Weight Paint Filling Machine

This four head net weight filler utilizes an air cylinder to control the fill carriage up and down and is supplied with diving lance fill heads. Filling initiates when the lances are at the bottom of the containers, and as the liquid level starts to rise, so too does the fill carriage. The opening of the fill lance is always submerged in liquid in order to prevent foaming or static buildup, and once the desired weight is achieved, the fill carriage will raise all the way up so that the fill lances are removed from the filled containers and the containers can be conveyed out of the fill area.

This net weight filling machine was supplied with two different diameters of diving lance fill head. One of which is the ABA-COV-BC-0.50x19 which has a 19" long fill lane with a 0.50" outer diameter and is designed for bottom filling containers.

<![CDATA[How to Customize a Filling Machine]]> https://www.abaltd.com/blog/Howtocustomize_blog/ One of the things we pride ourselves on at Anthony Barber Associates is the customization options we offer for our clients to help them create the best, most efficient, and most effective filling machine or line for their needs.

ABA-M396 - Top Fill, Net Weight, C1D1, Lid Placer, Powered Lid Press, Lid Crimper, Product Tank

Below are some (but not all) of the choices customers need to make when designing their custom liquid and paint filling machine

Design and setup of the machine:

  • Net weight vs volumetric
    • Net Weight filling machines are designed to fill a determined weight into a container based upon scales on the machine. These machines are easier to clean than volumetric machines, but are typically slower to fill than their volumetric counterparts. They are ideal for customers who require highly accurate fills and/or data tracking.
    • Volumetric filling machines feature double acting positive displacement volumetric piston pumps in either 1 or 5-gallon sizes which fill containers. These machines are fast, accurate, and easily adjustable and are perfect for customers who prefer a less technologically complicated setup and who prioritize speed.
  • Number of heads
    • We have designed machines with 1 head through 6 heads. This is largely dependent on the product being filled, space available (ie how long the machine can be) and production rates.
  • Height of conveyor
  • Directionality (left to right or right to left)
  • Electronic or pneumatically controlled
  • Designed for explosion proof or non-hazardous environments
    • We make machines for non-hazardous areas as well as those for explosion proof areas to meet C1D1 and C1D2 standards.
  • Semi vs Fully automatic
    • This again is usually dependent on space and production speeds. Sometimes we also have clients who prefer a semi-automatic machine for small batch or specialized batch running.
  • Size of containers being filled
    • This will influence the size of the machine, fill heads, pumps (if applicable) and affect any additional equipment or add-ons.
  • Top vs. Bottom fill
    • Top fill machines are the fastest solution for filling non-foaming liquids into open-top containers.
    • Bottom fill filling machines are ideal for foaming or static prone liquids, or for filling into tight neck containers.

Add-ons and Additional Equipment:

  • Lid droppers and placers
    • We offer lid droppers for smaller size containers (lids with diameters less than 7 inches) and lid placers for larger size containers.
    • We also offer a semi-automatic lid chute which is a perfect middle ground between the fully automatic placer and manual lid placement by hand.
  • Lid closers
    • This includes both lid presses and lid crimpers.
  • Rotary tables
    • We have both infeed and collation tables.

<![CDATA[ABA-M442]]> https://www.abaltd.com/blog/ABA-M442_blog/ ABA-M442 is a 5 gallon volumetric paint filling machine with three heads. This machine features a 5 gallon lid placer as well as a 5 gallon roller lid press.

ABA-M442 - Top Fill, Volumetric Paint Filling Machine

ABA's 5 gallon volumetric double acting piston pumps, the ABA-2000's, feature cast end caps, elbows and tees and stainless steel and teflon wetted parts. They are made from high quality materials and the double acting nature of these pumps means that they have a long life span. Double acting, in this case, means that there is always liquid on both sides of the piston, which prevents excess wear and prolongs the life of all of the component parts of the pump and thus, the pump itself. These pumps are easy to clean and maintain as well as to adjust the stroke legnth.

Our high speed 5 gallon lid placer, ABA-LPHSC-5, is designed to place plastic and metal lids onto round, square, or rectangular containers. This system has adjustable release paddles to allow for those different sizes and shapes. The lid chute is automatically primed with the next lids and also features low lid stack notifications so that the lids can be replenished. Once the chute is empty of containers, the unit automatically stops.

For closing plastic 5 gallon pails, we offer a 5 gallon roller lid press, ABA-PRESS-5NAR. This press can close lids on pails from pint through 6 gallon sizes and is fully height adjustable between those two sizes. Changeover is simple, and is achieved using a hand crank on one corner of the unit. The associated chain and sprockets are safely covered by a stainless steel sheet metal guard.

<![CDATA[About Us: Manufacturer of Filling Machines and Equipment ]]> https://www.abaltd.com/blog/aboutus_blog/ ABA was started in 1991 by Anthony Barber as a supplier to the paint and chemical industries. With the experience of European and US manufactured equipment, we began by supporting liquid filling machines in the US manufactured by Neumo, Ltd. and Thiele Engineering, Inc. Initially supplying parts and pump assemblies, ABA rapidly grew into manufacturing complete machines. The first packaging machine manufactured was a conveyor with roller lid press supplied to Kraft foods in 1994. Complete filling machines followed soon after. Our non-drip cone style fill heads are used with phenomenal success on ABA machines and most competitors machines.

Filling Machines and Equipment

We manufacture volumetric and net weight liquid filling machines and stock and supply quality parts for Neumo/Thiele filling machines. All new volumetric machines have ABA designed, positive displacement, double acting volumetric piston pumps for speed and accuracy. ABA’s custom designed filling machines and equipment are always being improved upon based on customer feedback and experience in the field and we feel confident that we can help your company achieve faster, more accurate, and more efficient fills. We are a family owned and operated business.

<![CDATA[3 Advantages of a Volumetric Filling Machine]]> https://www.abaltd.com/blog/3AdvantagesofaVolumetricFillingMachine_blog/ Volumetric Filling Machines

While volumetric filling machines do not offer the same data tracking capabilities as net weights, they do have distinct advantages which make them popular among certain clients and in specific environments.

1. Speed

Due to the fact that volumetric filling machines do not require a substantial pause before and after filling to weight the cans (as is the case with net weight machines) the overall fill cycle time is typically faster. The double-acting pumps that ABA manufactures also help to contribute to the speed of the machines. Double acting pumps mean that there is always liquid on both sides of the piston which, aside from increasing the lifespan of the pump and parts, also means that they are more efficient at pumping and require less stroke lengths to completely fill containers.

2. Cost

Volumetric filling machines are inherently less costly than net weight fillers because they feature far less equipment and especially electronics. Therefore, volumetric machines can be a good choice for a lower or more restricted budget while still fulfilling the needs for high speeds and accurate fills.

3. Simplicity of Use

Finally, the fill volume on a volumetric filling machine is adjusted using turrets located on the pumps. These are clearly marked and easy to move and make changeovers fast and easy. Unlike a net weight filling machine which has a larger technical component to use and master, volumetric filling machines are easy to use, changeover, and tune.

<![CDATA[3 Advantages of a Net Weight Filling Machine]]> https://www.abaltd.com/blog/3AdvantagesofaNetWeightFillingMachine_blog/ Net Weight Filling Machine

Choosing the correct filling machine for your application is an important decision and one that should take into account the product being filled, the containers it is being filled into, the production environment, and the production goals. Our entire team is friendly and ready to help you determine which machine is best suited to your needs. Take a look at three advantages of using a net weight filling machine below.

Accuracy

One of the main reasons to look towards a net weight filling machine over a volumetric machine would be accuracy. The containers are filled on scales which monitor the exact weight of the product in real time. The load cells on the scales then communicate with the machine and the operator to either automatically make adjustments, or notify the operator that adjustments are required that need to be manually input. The result is that these machines have highly precise and accurate fills which can be easily adjusted and tailored to suit different products and containers.

Clean Up

When compared to a volumetric filling machine, a net weight filler has fewer wetted parts which need to be cleaned of product. Simply put, the ball valves and fill heads and their associated tubes are the only components which need to be flushed or cleaned of product.

Recipe Storage

Our net weight filling machines utilize the latest technologies to provide real-time data and tracking of fill cycles. These programs also have the capacity to store up to 100 individual recipes which make size changeover and plant shift changes seamless and hassle-free and mean that results are repeatable and reliable.

If you need the team at ABA to customize a net weight filling machine for your business, just reach out to us by calling +1 (803) 396-0621 or emailing sales@abaltd.com. We look forward to providing you with custom solutions.

<![CDATA[Differences Between Top Fill and Bottom Fill Machines]]> https://www.abaltd.com/blog/DifferencesBetweenTopFillandBottomFillMachines_blog/ Pail Filling Machine

At Anthony Barber Associates, we manufacture machines to fill in either top fill or bottom fill mode. While there are advantages and disadvantages to each style of filling, deciding whether a top filling machine or a bottom filling machine is right for your business largely depends on what material you are filling, and into what type of container.

Top Fill Machines

Typically, a top fill machine is best suited for applications where the product is non-foaming, and the containers are open top. Top fill machines are also inherently faster at filling, so speed is another major consideration for customers contemplating which option is best for them.

Bottom Fill Machines

A bottom fill machine is ideal for filling foaming products and also those which are static prone in a hazardous environment as well as filling liquids into containers with a tight neck (narrow opening). Bottom filling involves a diving lance fill head which is lowered to the bottom of the container before filling begins. Once the lance is in position, the cycle initiates and as the liquid fills the container, the lance rises out of the container whilst keeping the head submerged in order to lessen foaming and decrease static. These machines are slower due to the travel time of the fill carriage having to lower and raise the fill heads out of containers, but are imperative for safety and cleanliness in certain applications. It should, however, be noted that bottom fill machines are capable of filling in top fill mode, thus can be functional for a wide array of products and containers.

Both styles of machines can be available in full or semi-automatic designs and, as with all of the machines we offer, we will customize them to best fit your needs, fill environment, and product.

<![CDATA[ABA-M440 - LPHS]]> https://www.abaltd.com/blog/ABA-M440_blog/

ABA-M440 is a high speed lid placer, ABA-LPHSC-5, with conveyor section and a 5 gallon roller lid press. This machine has its own independent control box and can therefore be moved around the plant into the filling line or position that is most beneficial.

ABA-M440 - 5 Gallon Lid Placing Machine with Conveyor and Press

ABA's 5 gallon lid placer, ABA-LPHSC-5, is designed to place 5 gallon plastic and metal lids and can accomodate round, square, and rectangular shapes due to the adjustable release paddles. These units have a chute based design and self-center the lids onto the containers as they pass beneath it. The lid placer has a low stack notification and automatically stops when it runs out of lids. In feed line stops automatically space the containers as they pass below it and the motive force of the container is what pulls the lid from the end of the chute. The chute stays primed and full with the next lids already in place.

ABA-PRESS-5NAR is a 5 gallon roller lid press designed to accomodate containers from one pint through 6 gallons. This net weight filling machine features dual heads and fills from our ABA-COV-85QTS fill heads.

ABA-M437 - Top Fill, Net Weight, Semi-Automatic Liquid Filling Machine

Semi-automatic filling machines typically have a smaller footprint than fully automatic machines and are a great way to bridge the gap between manual filling and a fully automatic filling machine. They also work well for small batch applications or unique fills which do not need to take up an entire filling line to complete. ABA has designed a wide array of semi-automatic filling machines which encompass varying degrees of automation or none at all.

This Net weight semi-automatic machine features a roller conveyor section which is not automated. There are two individual scales under each of the fill heads and two sets of independent controls. This machine is also mounted on casters so that it might be moved to different areas of a plant in order to best fulfill various roles and fills.

Our cone style fill heads, ABA-COV-85QTS, are designed for filling quarts and gallon cans. These fill heads feature a 2 inch S-line inlet and a 1.85 inch diameter outlet and are constructed using high quality parts and dairy style inlet connections.

<![CDATA[ABA-M428- Volumetric Filling Machine]]> https://www.abaltd.com/blog/ABA-M428_blog/ Our top fill, 2 head, volumetric filling machine, ABA-M428, was supplied with a rotary infeed table, 1 gallon double acting pumps, a semi-automatic lid placer chute, and a roller lid press. At ABA we take great pride in ensuring our machines are all designed with efficiency, ease of use, and quality in mind and we strive to work with our customers to find the best possible solution for their unique needs, products, fill environments, and production requirements.

ABA-M428 - Top Fill, 2 Head, Volumetric Paint Filling Machine

Rotary infeed tables allow the operator to pre-load a large number of containers and to keep a continuous flow of containers moving towards the fill area. When a conveyor may only accomodate a few empty containers, the rotary table has a 60" diameter plate which can hold a large number of containers (variable depending on size) and increases the speed and efficiency of the line while freeing up the operator to attend to other tasks on the fill line. All of the rotary tables we manufacture are constructed with a plated steel table top and stainless steel sheet metal sides as well as Teflon runners on touch points to prevent damage to either cans or the table itself.

Our 1 gallon volumetric pumps, ABA-80, are designed to fill from 1/2 pint through to 1 gallon in a single cycle, or can fill higher volumes with additional strokes. Stroke length is easy to adjust and change using our 6 position selector turret. All of the pumps we manufacture are made with high quality stainless steel and Teflon wetted parts as well as cast ends and elbows which are cast here in the United States. We also only supply double acting pumps and feel that they are not only more efficient, but are a better investment as they are longer lasting and outperform single acting pumps.

Our semi-automatic lid chute, ABA-PLCR-CHUTE, is the perfect middle ground between a fully automatic lid placing unit and an operator placing lids by hand. It is a budget friendly solution which allows operator to pre-load a number of lids instead of having to individually place them one by one, which frees them up to attend to other components or steps in the filling cycle. The chute features adjustable release paddles which can accomodate different shapes and sizes of lids.

The 5 gallon roller lid press, ABA-PRESS-NAR, is designed to press lids onto containers from one pint through 6 gallon pails. The press is fully height adjustable using a crank handle on one corner of the unit, and the associated chains and sprockets are safely covered with a stainless steel sheet metal guard. The 32 gradually declining steel rollers ensure lids are firmly pressed on, and an optional no-lid detector can be mounted on the exit end of the unit to stop the machine running if a container without a lid is detected. Additionally, all lid presses come with a roller safety switch to stop the machine if the sensor is activated in order to prevent injuries at the pinch point.

Please contact us today for assitance in selecting the right machine for your fill environment and product, we look forward to helping you make a safer, more efficient, and faster fill line for your plant. sales@abaltd.com Request a Quote

<![CDATA[Net Weight Filling Machine VS Volumetric Filling Machine]]> https://www.abaltd.com/blog/NetWeightFillingMachineVSVolumetricFillingMachine_blog/ Net Weight Filling Machine

When the time comes to purchase a new filling machine or update an existing fill line, the first step is often determining which type of filling machine is best for your application. At ABA, we want to provide our customers with information that will help them make the right decision. Determine if a net weight filling machine or a volumetric filling machine is right for you below.

Net Weight Filling Machine

Net weight machines utilize scales to weigh containers and fill until the determined weight has been reached. While these machines have less product contact and are thus easier to clean than volumetric machines, head for head, these machines will typically return about half the speed of a volumetric machine for containers 1 gallon and smaller. With the latest innovative technology, our net weight filling machines are ideal for customers who require data tracking or require highly accurate fills.

Volumetric Filling Machine

Our volumetric filling machines are available with either 1 gallon or 5 gallon double acing positive displacement volumetric piston pumps. Double acting pumps have product on both sides of the piston which keeps the cylinder walls and seals lubricated and increases the life of the pump. These machines are fast, accurate, easily adjustable, and simple to clean. They are ideal for customers who prefer a less technologically complicated setup and who prioritize speed.

With this information, we hope you can select the ideal filling machine for your needs. If you need additional information, you can call our team at (803) 396-0621 right now.

<![CDATA[ABA-M429 - 4 Head, Net Weight, C1D1]]> https://www.abaltd.com/blog/ABA-M429_blog/ ABA-M429 is a net weight filling machine designed to inline fill on 4 heads. This liquid filling machine is for a C1D1 (Class 1, Division 1) hazardous area and features a lid dropper and roller lid press.

ABA-M429 - 4 head, Net weight, C1D1, LDHS, Press

Our ABA-LDHS lid dropper is designed to drop lids from 1/2 pint through 1 gallon sizes. These units can be used with both plastic and metal lids and they mount to all of our roller lid presses. Lid droppers are supplied with interchangeable star wheels for lid alignment and have a 24" standard vertical hopper. Optionally, a 72" downstacker can be added which gives additional capacity and allows operators to pre-load a substantial number of lids. Because the lid droppers are not stand alone units, and must be mounted to presses, they are height adjustable via the crank handle located on the lid press unit. The rest of the size adjustment is achieved with ratchet handles which are easy to operate and do not require the use of additional tools. These self centering units make high speed lid dropping a breeze.

The roller lid press featured on this machine is our 1 gallon model, ABA-PRESS-1NAR. This press is designed to press lids onto containers from half pint through 1 gallon sizes and has full height adjustment using a crank handle. The chain and sprockets used to move the press up and down are safely covered with a stainless steel sheet metal guard. The press features 19 gradually declining steel rollers to firmly press on lids, and our presses all have optional no lid sensors which can be mounted to the exit end of the unit to detect if any containers pass beneath it with no lid. If a lidless container is detected, the whole cycle will stop to prevent spills our a buildup of containers on the conveyor.

ABA has a wide array of machines designed for C1D1 and C1D2 environments. These intrinsically safe filling machines are available in volumetric or net weight and can be semi or fully automatic. We are constantly looking for ways to imrpove the usability and function of our machines in addition to keeping them fast and efficient. One such measure is the addition of an intrinsically safe mouse which is used to control touch screens in a hazardous environment where static cannot exist. These mice make navigating the HMI simpler, faster, and more hassle free which in turn helps the operator keep the machine running at speed and producing the results needed. Please contact us for more information on how we can best design a machine to suit your hazardous environment.

<![CDATA[ABA-M426-Top Fill, Volumetric, C1D2 Filling Machine]]> https://www.abaltd.com/blog/ABA-M426_blog/ ABA-M426 is a 2 head top fill, volumetric filling machine designed for a C1D2 area. This machine has a number of additions which help to make it a quick, efficient, and valuable piece of equipment including swing frame fill heads on movable modules, a rotary infeed table, a lid dropper, and a roller lid press.

ABA is proud to offer an extensive selection of machines designed for hazardous environments to meet both C1D1 and C1D2 standards. For a closer look at what we offer or for more information, please visit the intrinsically safe machines on our website: http://www.abaltd.com/products/filling-machines/intrinsically-safe-explosion-proof.html

A popular design for 2 head machines is our Swing frame. This setup allows the operator to quickly move the heads so that they face the rear of the machine and can be positioned over a tank. Then, a simple flush feature on the screens lets the operator continuously run water, a cleaner, or product through the pumps and fill heads in order to clean or prime the machine. This eliminates additional equipment or undue messes and helps to keep the machine running more smoothly and accurately.

This machine features ABA's 1 gallon double acting volumetric piston pumps with gravity check valves, the ABA-80-GCV's. This one gallon pump is designed to fill from half pint to 5 quarts in a single cycle but can be set to fill larger container sizes as well with multiple cycles. All of the pumps we manufacture are constructed from stainless steel and Teflon wetted parts as well as cast end caps, tees, and elbows. These high quality parts make our pumps long lasting, efficient, and easy to maintain. In the vein of easy maintenance, all pumps are assembled using quick release clamps which makes it faster and easier than ever to keep them clean or to replace any parts necessary. The double acting design that we use for all of the pumps we manufacture is by far the more efficient and faster design and it also contributes to the extended lifespan of the pump and all wear parts. Simply stated, double acting refers to the presence of liquid on both sides of the piston cup.

ABA-M426 - 2 Head, Volumetric filling machine, C1D2

This filling machine also features two individual fill modules which can be moved in and out according to what is being filled or if either of them requires cleaning. The fill modules are both outfitted with two volumetric pumps and two fill heads and also both feature a stainless steel product tank. The modules are easy to hook up to and remove from the main machine and then simply need to be rolled away.

The rotary infeed table supplied with this machine is just another factor in increasing the overall speed, efficiency, and performance of the line. Our rotary tables are 60" in diameter and feature stinaless steel sheet metal guards and a plated circular feed table. All container contact points are equipped with Teflon runners to prevent marking or damaging of containers or equipment. The ability to preload a large quantity of containers keeps the machine running continuously and alleviates the pressure on operators to be constantly feeding empty containers onto the infeed end of the machine, thus freeing them up to perform other tasks along the line.

This machine also features a top off system positioned after filling and prior to the containers getting lidded. The mounted top off nozzles deliver a burst of anti-skimming agent to the surface of the filled containers as they pass beneath.

ABA-M426 is also outfitted with a lid dropper with downstacker for additional lid capacity. Our ABA-LDHS lid dropper is a high speed unit designed to drop metal and plastic lids from 1/2 pint through 1 gallon sizes. This unit is not standalone and must be mounted to one of our ABA lid press units. The standard vertical hopper has a 24" lid capacity, but with the addition of the downstacker chute, that increases to 72" of extra capacity. All lid droppers use ratchet handles for simple size changeovers and are height adjustable via the crank handle located on the lid press. They also come with interchangeable star wheels for correct lid alignment and reach speeds of 60+ lids per minute.

Our 1 gallon roller lid press, ABA-PRESS-1NAR, is the unit onto which the aforementioned ABA-LDHS is mounted. This non-powered roller lid press is designed to press lids on half pint through 1 gallon containers and is height adjustable with the easy to use crank handle on the corner of the press. Stainless steel sheet metal guards the chains and sprockets associated with height adjustment, and the rollers are steel with stainless steel shafts.

<![CDATA[Volumetric Piston Pumps]]> https://www.abaltd.com/blog/Volumetric-Pumps_blog/ For the past 27 years, Anthony Barber Associates has been a leader in the field of double acting volumetric piston pumps. Our highly accurate, fast, and efficient pumps are made with superior quality parts and, with proper care and maintenance, last for many years. Unlike some of our competitors, we only offer double acting pumps. Simply put, double acting pumps offer a higher quality and longer lasting product. Double acting means that there is always liquid on both sides of the piston cup which keeps all parts lubricated and prevents unnecessary wear. This, in turn, increases the lifespan of the parts and the pump overall in addition to increasing the efficiency of the pump and the speed with which it fills. In short, double acting pumps have superior results to those achieved with single acting pumps.

We offer 1 gallon pumps with either gravity check valves or powered check valves:

  1. Our 1 gallon volumetric pump with gravity check valves is the ABA-80. Gravity check valves means that the force of the liquid itself unseats and reseats the check valves in the pump. These pumps can fill from 1/2 pint to 5 quarts in a single cycle, but can also be used to fill larger containers, thus making them very versatile. ABA-80 - 1 gallon volumetric piston pump gravity check valves
  2. Powered check valves ABA-99. The ABA-99 is a 1 gallon pump with powered check valves. Powered check valves rely upon air cylinders to move the check valves on and off of their seats. These eliminate the need for filter tubs.
ABA-99 - 1 gallon volumetric piston pump with powered check valves

In addition to 1 gallon pumps, we offer the larger 5 gallon volumetric pumps. Again, both styles are offered, one with powered check valves and one with gravity:

  1. 5 Gallon pump with gravity check valves ABA-2000-GCV. This is the 5 gallon pump model with gravity check valves. In the same fashion as the one gallon model, these rely upon the force of the liquid as it moves through the pump to unseat and reseat the check valves. Stroke adjustment handles on the ends of the pumps make it easy to fine tune the pump to best suit your application needs. One stroke fills a 5 gallon pail. ABA-2000 - 5 gallon volumetric pump with gravity check valves
  2. The 5 gallon pump with powered check valves is the ABA-2000-PCV. The powered check valves use air cylinders to move the check valves from their seats. Powered check valves eliminate the need for a filter tub.

ABA-2000PCV - 5 gallon volumetric piston pump with powered check valves

For more information on any of the volumetric pumps we offer or any of the other machines and equipment we manufacture, please reach out to us via phone (803) 396-0621 or email: sales@abaltd.com and we would be happy to talk you through which products would best suit your company, filling needs, and production environment.

<![CDATA[ABA-M425 - Top fill, C1D1 Volumetric Filling Machine]]> https://www.abaltd.com/blog/ABA-M425_blog/ ABA-M425 is a dual head volumetric liquid filling machine designed for an intrinsically safe (explosion proof) area with a C1D1 rating. Although this machine itself is filling latex paint, it is located in a plant with a C1D1 rating which must be adhered to. This machine features our 5 gallon double acting piston pumps, topoff system, a lid placer with orientation, a 5 gallon roller lid press, and a stainless steel product supply tank.

Anthony Barber Associates is proud to offer an extensive line of machines designed to fill in hazardous areas. Our intrinsically safe (explosion proof) machinery can be designed for both C1D1 (Class 1 Division 1) or C1D2 (Class 1 Division 2) areas. We have both volumetric and net weight machines and both semi and fully automatic models. ABA-M425 is a volumetric machine designed to fill in a C1D1 area. As with all the filling machines we manufacture, our intrinsically safe models are customizable and feature any combination of additional equipment such as lid placers, droppers, placers, etc. As always, working with our customers to create the most beneficial machine for their fill environment is a top priority of ours.

ABA-M425 - Top fill, Volumetric, Liquid Filling Machine, C1D1

This machine features ABA's 5 gallon double acting volumetric piston pumps, the ABA-2000-GCV's. Our entire line of volumetric piston pumps are built to the same high standards using cast ends and elbows and stainless steel and Teflon wetted parts. We only offer double acting pumps as we believe they are higher quality and longer lasting than single acting alternatives. The efficiency of these pumps coupled with their easy to maintain design make them a popular choice with high speed and high accuracy applications. A simple to use handle with counter allows the operator to make quick stroke adjustments and duplicate those adjustments easily by utilizing the counter to set pumps to the same stroke number.

Our high speed lid placer, ABA-LPHSC-5, is optionally available with lid bung orientation, which is displayed on this machine. The lid dropper is designed to self-center lids onto the containers as they pass below it and comes with adjustable release paddles which allow for the placement of round, square, and rectangluar lids. An infeed linestop automatically spaces the incoming containers and the chute is automatically primed with lids for the next container. The sensors on the unit notify the operator when the lids are running low and it automatically stops containers when it runs out of lids completely. The lid orientation system spins the lid until the bung is facing the correct direction according to the information input in the recipe.

The ABA-PRESS-5NAR is our non-powered 5 gallon roller lid press which is designed to press lids on to pint containers through 6 gallon pails. This press features 32 gradually declining steel rollers and a stainless steel sheet metal guard to cover the chains and sprockets associated with height adjustment. A hand crank located on a corner of the unit allows for quick and simple height adjustment.

Lastly, this machine showcases our ABA-TOPOFF-COV-100 cone style fill head designed to deposit anti-skimming agents onto the surface of an already filled container. This design ensures that the anti-skimming product is more gently released and does not forcefully break the surface of the liquid in the container below.

Contact us at 803-396-0621 or sales@abaltd.com for more information on this machine or any of the other machines and equipment we offer. We look forward to helping you with all of your filling line needs!

<![CDATA[ABA-M421 - 3 Head, Volumetric Filler]]> https://www.abaltd.com/blog/ABA-M421_blog/ ABA-M421 is a 3 head volumetric filling machine designed to fill in top fill mode. This machine features our 5 gallon pumps, ABA-2000, a 5 gallon lid placer, and a 5 gallon roller lid press as well as a supply tank directly feeding the pumps.

Our ABA-2000 pumps are designed to fill 5 gallon containers, and feature gravity check valves. The gravity check valves are pushed up and re-seated by the force of the liquid as it moves through the pumps (as opposed to our powered check valves which rely upon air cylinders). As with all the pumps ABA manufactures, these are built with high quality stainless steel and Teflon wetted parts and feature cast iron end caps, elbows, and tees which are cast here in the USA. Our pumps are easily adjusted with stroke adjustment handles and are easy to maintain with quick release clamps and seals.

Our 5 gallon plastic and metal lid placer unit, ABA-LPHSC-5, also features prominently on this machine. The chute placed design self-centers the lids onto the containers as they pass below it and can place round, square, and rectangular lids. These units can be optionally supplied with a lid orientation system to ensure bungs are facing the correct way. Automatic lid priming keeps the lid chute full and ready for the next container, and a low lid notification alerts the operator when the lids need to be replenished. The unit will automatically stop when it has placed the last lid. An in-feed line stop is mounted onto the conveyor beneath the lid placer in order to properly space the incoming containers.

ABA-M421 - 3 Head Volumetric Machine with Tank, Lid Placer, and Roller Lid Press

ABA-PRESS-5NAR is our 5 gallon non-powered roller lid press which is designed to press lids from one pint through 6 gallon pails. All of the presses ABA manufactures feature a hand crank with chain and sprockets for full height adjustment. This simple to use system makes size changeover a quick and hassle-free process. All of the sprockets are covered with a stainless steel sheet metal guard covers. The 5 gallon press features 32 gradually declining steel rollers and can optionally be supplied with a no-lid detector to stop the line if a container passes beneath it missing a lid to prevent spills. A roller safety sensor is mounted at the leading edge of the pump to automatically cease all motive force if the beam is broken such as by an operator's hand or fingers.

This machine is also being supplied with a 150 gallon stainless steel product tank which directly feeds to the volumetric piston pumps. This efficient setup results in higher speeds and better throughputs, thereby increasing returns.

ABA-M421 was supplied with our ABA-COV-85SPF cone style fill heads which are primarily designed to fill 5 gallon pails. These fill heads feature a 3" S-Line inlet and a 4" S-Line flush flange to make flushing the system cleaner and easier. The flush attachment allows for a hose to be quickly connected so that cleaning solvents can be run through the fill heads.

<![CDATA[ABA-M420 - Dual Head, Volumetric Filler]]> https://www.abaltd.com/blog/ABA-M420_blog/ ABA-M420 is a dual head volumetric filling machine with our popular swing frame design. The benefit of the swing frame design is the simplicity of cleaning, flushing, and priming of the pumps and fill heads. This is achieved by pushing the fill heads around on their swivel joints so that they hang over the rear of the machine. The operator would then position a flush tank beneath the heads and initiate the flush cycle on the HMI. The machine will then continously flush until the operator stops the flush function. This is not only a simple procedure, it saves time and eliminates the need to perform extensive clean up as well.

This machine features our 1 gallon double acting volumetric piston pumps, the ABA-80's. As with all of the pumps we produce, these are double acting. We believe this is a superior way to pump, because it increases the efficiency, lifespan, and accuracy of the pumps. Double acting means that product is on both sides of the piston at all times. This means that there is no unnecessary wear and tear on the components of the pump which results in a longer lifespan for those parts as well as the pump as a whole. This also creates a more efficient fill cycle because, for instance, when filling a 1 gallon can, 1/2 gallon would be filled on the forward stroke and 1/2 on the backward stroke. This eliminates excess "travel time" as the pump is immediately ready to fill the next container instead of having to return back to the home position.

This machine is being supplied with our ABA-COV-85QTS fill heads. These heads have a 2 inch S-line inlet and a 1.85 inch diameter outlet and are primarily used for filling quart and gallon cans. Our cone style fill heads eliminate the stringing problems associated with capillary tube style heads and have a clean cut off when they snap closed. Our fill heads are easy to clean and maintain and can also easily be switched out for a different size fill head when performing a size changeover.

<![CDATA[ABA-M417 - Semi-Automatic, C1D1]]> https://www.abaltd.com/blog/ABA-M417_blog/ ABA-M417 is a semi-automatic filling machine designed for filling 5 gallon pails. This volumetric machine is designed for a C1D1 (Class 1 Division 1) explosion proof environment and is controlled pneumatically and features a mechanical variable speed drive for controlling the conveyor.

Despite advances in electronic software for filling machines, pneumatically controlled machines still have a valuable place in a fill environment. Specifically, for hazardous areas, pneuamtic machines provide a cost effective way to safely operate machinery within those constraints. This machine furthermore features a mechanical variable speed drive to control the speed of the conveyor by rotating a handwheel. The handwheel moves the drive either towards the machine or away from it, thus tightening or lengthening a belt resulting in a faster or slower moving conveyor.

ABA's 5 gallon volumetric piston pump, ABA-2000, showcases its speed and accuracy on this machine. Coming in at speeds of 6-8 pails per minute, this highly efficient pump is not only quick, but also easy to use, clean, and maintain. Handwheels with position indicators allow for fast and easy adjustment of pump stroke length, and quick release clamps allow for simple access to cleaning and maintaining the units. As with all the pumps we offer, the ABA-2000 is a double acting pump. This simply means that product is on both sides of the piston at all times which serves to keep cylinder walls and seals lubricated and elongates the life of the pump. Manufactured from high quality stainless steel and Teflon seals and gaskets, these pumps are built right and built to last.

After the initial roller conveyor section in the fill area, this machine also features a section of chain conveyor with our 5 gallon roller lid press, ABA-PRESS-5NAR. This press is designed to press on plastic lids utilizing 32 gradually declining steel rollers. All of our lid presses are height adjustable with a hand crank on one corner of the unit. The chain and sprockets associated with this are all safely covered with a stainless steel sheet metal cover.

ABA-M417 - Semi-Automatic, Volumetric, Pneumatic, C1D1 filling machine

This machine was supplied with our ABA-COV-85SPF cone style fill heads. They have a 3 inch S-line inlet and a 3.32 inch oulet. These are flush fill heads, and have a 4 inch flush flange so that a hose may be easily hooked up to them for clean and efficient flushing. As with all of our cone style fill heads, the superior design prevents the stringing problems associated with capillary style and the heads snap closed cleanly, eliminating dripping and other product mess.

<![CDATA[ABA-M418 - Lid Dropper, Press, and Conveyor]]> https://www.abaltd.com/blog/ABA-M418_blog/ ABA-M418 is a 17 foot long conveyor section with our high speed lid dropper, ABA-LDHS with a downstacker for additional lid capacity, and a roller lid press unit.

Per our customer's specifications, this conveyor section is at 40" elevation in order to fit into their existing machinery on this line. For that reason, there is additional support on the legs to prevent tipping.

Our LDHS lid dropper is designed to drop both plastic and metal lids from 1/2 pint through 1 gallon. This is not a standalone unit, and so it must be mounted to one of our roller lid presses. The standard vertical lid hopper capacity is 24 inches, and with the optional downstacker, there is an extra 72 inches of capacity. This allows for a substantial number of lids to be loaded ahead of time and for an operator to continually replenish the chute for fast and efficient lidding. Size changeover is simple and is executed using ratchet handles on the unit, so no tools are required. the lid dropper also has interchangeable star wheel sets for lid alignment prior to be pressed on.

ABA-M418 - LDHS, Press, Conveyor

ABA-PRESS-1NAR is our non-powered 1 gallon roller lid press. These units feature 19 gradually declining steel rollers to firmly press on lids and can accomodate cans from 1/2 pint through 1 gallon. All of our lid presses are height adjustable utilizing a crank handle on one corner of the unit. The sprockets and chain associated with the height adjustment are covered with a stainless steel sheet metal guard to protect operators. An optional feature on our lid presses is a no lid detector. This particular unit features one of these detectors which is designed to stop the conveyor when a lidless container is found. This prevents spills, backups, and delays, which in turn increases productivity and cleanliness in the plant.

<![CDATA[ABA-M413 - Rotary Table]]> https://www.abaltd.com/blog/ABA-M413_blog/ ABA-M413 is a 36 inch diameter, stainless steel rotary infeed table. Our standard rotary tables are supplied with aluminum frames and plated circular tabletops, but this unit was designed with both a stainless steel frame and top plate. In an additional deviation from the typical rotary infeed table we supply, this unit is much smaller - only 36" in diameter and designed for smaller bottles instead of larger sized pails and containers.

To ensure the correct flow of containers, this rotary table was also designed with a feed chute lined with wear strip to prevent marking of the containers and table and to decrease friction.

<![CDATA[ABA-M411 - Volumetric Filling Machine]]> https://www.abaltd.com/blog/ABA-M411_blog/ ABA-M411 is a 2 head, fully automatic, volumetric liquid filling machine with a swing frame, rotary infeed table, a lid chute, lid dropper, and roller lid press. This customized machine is designed with our end user in mind and delivers fast and accurate fills, simple and quick size changeovers, and numerous features to make the operator's job easier.

The swing heads make flushing and priming the system fast, easy, and clean. To flush or prime, simply push the fill heads so they are at the rear of the machine over a tank and select the flush option on the HMI to cycle product or cleaning solution through the machine. While all of our machines feature flush capabilities, the benefit of the swing head is containing the flush cycle and making it faster and cleaner.

The HMI stores 100 individual recipes to make size changeover not only quick and easy, but also accurate and repeatable. This negates the need for an operator to manually enter the information necessary for each size container each time a size changeover takes place. The touchscreen HMI and control buttons are both located on the movable pendant arm, making them easily accessible from multiple points.

ABA-M411 - Dual Head, Swing Frame, Volumetric Filling Machine

This volumetric filling machine features a number of operator-friendly and throughput-increasing pieces of equipment:

  • The 60" rotary infeed table for bulk loading of containers means that the operator can devote time to other operational aspects of the machine instead of manually loading each empty container. Our rotary tables are constructed from an aluminum frame with a plated circular feed table. The operator simply needs to load containers onto the table and they are automatically fed from the infeed table onto the conveyor. (Tables can be optionally supplied with a stainless steel frame and plate).
  • The semi-automatic lid chute for the larger container sizes allows for a number of lids to be pre-loaded to negate the need for individually placed lids. As the containers pass beneath the lid chute, the force of the container pulls the next lid from the chute, making this the perfect middle ground option between manually placing lids and a fully automatic lid placer unit. The lid chute is constructed from stainless steel and is height adjustable.
  • Our 1 gallon double acting volumetric piston pumps, ABA-80, are constructed from high quality stainless steel and Teflon wetted parts. These 1 gallon pumps feature gravity check valves, meaning the liquid in the pump displaces and reseats the check valves itself. The ABA-80s also have six position selector turrets with individual threaded stops to make volume changeover a breeze. As with all of the pumps we supply, these are double acting. This simply means that liquid is present on both sides of the piston, resulting in a more efficient pump and a longer lifespan of all parts.
  • The high speed lid dropper, ABA-LDHS, drops lids onto the smaller containers (1/2 pint - 1 gallon) as they pass beneath it. This unit is mounted to our roller lid press and can also be supplied with a product hopper for additional id capacity. Our lid droppers also come equipped with starwheels to ensure that all lids are centered prior to going underneath the lid press.
  • Our non-powered 5 gallon roller lid press utilizes 32 1" diameter gradually declining steel rollers to firmly press on lids from pint through 6 gallon pails. This press, and all of our lid press units, comes with a handle on one corner of the press for quick and easy size changeover. A stainless steel cover safely shields the operators from the sprockets and chains associated with the height adjustment.

When companies begin the process of looking for new filling equipment for their plants, ABA is confident that our quality and customizable machinery is the solution they are looking for. All of our equipment is designed with efficiency and accuracy in mind while not sacrificing usability or caliber. For more information regarding this or any of the machines we have designed and manufactured, please call (803) 396-0621, email us @ sales@abaltd.com, or submit a request for quote today!

<![CDATA[ABA-M405 - Semi-Automatic, Net Weight Filling Machine]]> https://www.abaltd.com/blog/ABA-M405-blog/ Even our semi-automatic filling machines are completely customizable, demonstrated here by ABA-M405, our latest semi-automatic net weight filling machine. This machine is designed for use in a Class 1 Division 1 (C1D1) area, has a conveyor and lid press, features two different types of fill heads desinged for filling in different ways, and showcases a nitrogen purge system on each fill head.

The HMI on this machine is mounted directly in the control box and is controlled by an intrinsically safe mouse. This mouse makes navigation easier on a C1D1 machine, negating the need for an explosion proof touch screen cover. The HMI holds 100 different recipes to make changeovers between sizes or products, quick and accurate.

Many semi-automatic filling machines are purchased to accomplish niche or specialty filling. On M405, our customer wanted to fill different products and/or from different sources. The two fill heads on this machine are designed to fill in two different ways:

  • Head 1 has a proportional valve and is designed to be hooked up to a large tank or hopper for bulk filling.
  • Head 2 is fitted with a small, stainless steel tank on the back of the machine, and is designed for small batch filling. This custom designed tank directly feeds to fill Head 2 and is easily accessible to the operator to fill and maintain product level. This design makes it easy for an operator to fill the tank with a pail for a smaller batch.

Both of the fill heads also feature nitrogen purges which deliver a burst of nitrogen to the container prior to filling.

ABA-M405 - Semi-automatic, Net Weight filling machine C1D1

This paint filling machine also boasts a small conveyor section with our 1 gallon roller lid press, helping to bridge the gap between a fully manual machine and a fully automatic machine. The small footprint of this filler also means it is versatile and would be a beneficial addition to any filling line.

Our 1 gallon roller lid press, ABA-PRESS-1NAR, features gradually declining steel rollers to firmly press lids onto the containers, and is fully height adjustable to accomodate containers from 1/2 pint through 1 gallon. Our presses all come equipped with a crank handle on one corner of the unit to easily adjust the height, and a stainless steel cover to protect operators from the chains and bearings which make that height adjustment possible.

<![CDATA[ABA-M355 - Dual Head, Volumetric Filling Machine]]> https://www.abaltd.com/blog/ABA-M355-blog/ ABA-M355 is our latest electronic volumetric filling machine. This machine is a dual head and features our popular swing frame design which allows for easy priming and flushing of the the fill heads.

In addition, this machine features an optional nitrogen purge on both the fill heads and the lid dropper. The nitrogen purge on the fill heads puts the air in prior to the fill cycle beginning, so it is already in the container when the liquid is added. On the other side, the lid dropper also has a nitrogen purge which adds air to the container just before it is lidded, so the nitrogen remains right on the surface of the liquid and is rapidly closed into the container.

A rotary infeed table, lid dropper with extended lid hopper, and roller lid press round out the features on this liquid filling machine.

  • Our 60" diameter rotary infeed table, ABA-RT-60-IN, has a plated circular feed table (which can be optionally supplied as stainless steel) and container alignment paddles to ensure containers are fed onto the conveyor one at a time. Container contact points are covered with Teflon runners to prevent marking or damage. Rotary tables allow operators to pre-load a large number of containers and keep a continuous supply of containers running through the machine, increasing throughput, speed, and overall efficiency.
  • ABA's high speed lid dropper, ABA-LDHS, is designed to drop metal and plastic lids from 1/2 pint through 1 gallon sizes. These units are not stand-alone, but are mounted to our roller lid presses. The lids are dropped onto the containers as they pass beneath the dropper, and starwheels help to ensure the lids are properly aligned before they travel beneath the roller lid press. Size changeover is quick and easy using ratchet handles on the unit, and these droppers achieve speeds of 60+ lids per minute. The standard vertical hopper has a 24" capacity, but the downstacker included on this machine adds an additional 72" of lid capacity.
  • The ABA-PRESS-1NAR is a non-powered roller lid press designed for pressing lids on half pint through 1 gallon containers. As with all of the lid presses we supply, this unit is height adjustable using the crank handle on one corner of the press, and the sprockets and chains are safely covered with a stainless steel sheet metal guard.

<![CDATA[ABA-M395 - 2/3 Head, Net Weight, C1D1]]> https://www.abaltd.com/blog/ABA-M395-blog/ ABA's latest fully automatic net weight filling machine is a 2 head (with provisions for a later addition of a 3rd head) machine designed for a Class 1 Division 1 (C1D1) explosion proof area

We believe our customers shouldn't have to compromise on the caliber of machinery they receive or their ability to customize it to fit their needs simply because they need a machine to fit into the specific criteria of being explosion proof. It is for that reason that we have worked hard to expand upon and improve our C1D1 and C1D2 designs to offer companies the best options for an intrinsically safe filling machine. For instance, this machine features a wildly successful component - the intrinsically safe mouse. This mouse is mounted onto the pendant arm and is used to control the HMI. This is a time and cost saving feature which increases the efficiency of the operator so he or she is free to focus on other components of the fill cycle.

ABA-M395 - 2 head, net weight filling machine C1D1

ABA-M395 is not simply an explosion proof machine. This filler also boasts a number of features designed to improve throughput and efficiency and to maximize ROI and minimize waste and mess. Some of these include:

  1. A stainless steel semi-automatic lid chute which allows the operator to pre-load a number of lids at a time negating the need for manual lid placement. This lid chute is the perfect middle ground between manual placement of each individual lid and a fully automatic lid placing machine. For the budget conscious plant who still wants to negate the need for an operator to constantly be manning a lid placing section, this is a wonderful and flexible solution. The operator simply needs to load lids onto the stainless steel chute, and the motive force of the containers on the conveyor below will pull a lid off as it passes beneath.
  2. A high speed lid dropper unit for dropping smaller sized lids (1/2 pint - 1 gallon) drops lids onto the containers as they pass beneath it. This unit is mounted to our roller lid presses and is optionally available with a downstacker for additional lid capacity. Our lid droppers are also supplied with starwheels to ensure that only centered lids pass beneath the roller lid press.
  3. A 5 gallon roller lid press which uses 32 gradually declining steel rollers to firmly press on lids from pint-6 gallon pails is fully height adjustable using a simple crank handle on one corner of the unit. This press is designed to press the lids onto plastic containers and smaller metal containers alike. A stainless steel cover shields the operators from the chains and bearings utilized in the height adjustment.
  4. Dual crimp stations at the end of the line round out the great features on this machine. These two crimpers are designed to crimp the lids onto 5 gallon metal pails. The crimp tools are customized to the exact containers used by our customers and the safety guard protects operators and workers.

When the time come to look into new machinery for your fill line or to upgrade existing equipment, consider the high quality machines at ABA. <![CDATA[ABA-M397 - Top Fill, 3 Head, Volumetric]]> https://www.abaltd.com/blog/ABA-M397-blog/ ABA's latest volumetric filling machine, ABA-M397, is a 3 head, top fill, fully automatic filling machine.

Through the cut-out on the stainless steel front guard of the machine, the operator can access the 6 position selector turrets on our 1 gallon volumetric piston pumps, and easily change the volume being filled. Our ABA-80 double acting piston pumps are constructed with high quality stainless steel and Teflon wetted parts and use gravity to move the check valves on and off their seats allowing liquid to pass through. All of the pumps we build are double acting, meaning that liquid is always present on both sides of the piston, prolonging the life of the pump and increasing its efficiency.

ABA-M397 - 3 Head, Volumetric Filling Machine

This machine has lidding covered with our high speed lid dropper, ABA-LDHS and our 5 gallon roller lid press, ABA-PRESS-5NAR. Our lid dropper is mounted to a lid press, and can accomodate lids from 1/2 pint through 1 gallon size. These units are fully adjustable and are furthermore supplied with starwheels to ensure that all lids are properly centered before they go under the lid press.

In our ongoing efforts to build the best custom filling machinery, we work with each of our customer's specifications and unique containers and make adjusments and allowances to that each machine performs its job in the best way for each of our customers. To that end, modifications were made to the lid dropper in order to accomodate containers with lids that do not nest well on the chime (rim). We achieved this in the form of a tamper which presses one edge of the lid down before the container goes under the roller lid press.

<![CDATA[ABA-M396- Top Fill, Net Weight, C1D1]]> https://www.abaltd.com/blog/ABA-M396-blog/ ABA-M396 is a 4 head, fully automatic, net weight filling machine designed for a C1D1 area and featuring a variety of additional equipment all of which serves to make it a powerhouse machine.

Although ABA-M396 is a 4 head machine, it was designed by our customer to fill on only 2 heads at a time in order to prevent cross contamination of different products. As with all of our custom machinery, this system best meets the needs of our customer and increases their productivity and throughput. The stainless steel frame, C1D1 rating, and additional equipment and features all serve to make this fully automatic filling machine a boon to whatever filling line it is a part of.

ABA-M396 - Top Fill, 4 Head, Net Weight C1D1 Paint Filling Machine

This Class 1 Division 1 (C1D1) machine includes an intrinsically safe mouse on the pendant arm which controls the HMI. The mouse makes navigating between screens and inputting information faster and easier than attempting to use a C1D1 screen cover. This is just one of the many ways ABA innovates and adjusts to produce faster, more efficient and more accurate machines which subsequently are more profitable, productive, and valuable.

The HMI itself stores 100 recipes, making it easier to change between sizes and products being filled while maintaining accurate and repeatable results.

Due to the different products and containers being filled and used on this machine, this machine showcases a number of lidding options:

  • Our 5 gallon lid placer for both plastic and metal lids features a hopper for additional capacity, a low lid stack notification system, and adjustable release paddles to accommodate different sized and shaped containers. The in feed line stops on this unit also automatically space incoming containers. This unit allows for an operator to pre-load a large number of lids which are then plucked and placed from the hopper onto the chute and placed onto the containers as they pass beneath it. This unit can additionally be supplied with a bung orientation system for locating and directing the bung to the correct position.
  • Our powered roller lid press for the plastic lids utilizes a 0.5 HP motor along with the motive force of the conveyor to firmly press lids into place. This particular press was designed for a C1D1 area and features an intrinsically safe motor to power the unit. As with all of our lid presses, this is supplied with a hand crank on one corner of the press for simple height adjustment. A stainless steel sheet metal guard covers these chains and sprockets for operator safety. Our powered presses feature 5 lead in rollers and 6 large powered rollers.
  • Our lid crimper station for the metal lids features a customized crimp tool to best fit the containers used by our customers. Enclosed by safety guarding and equipped with an emergency stop button, this unit is both safe and efficient.
  • A no lid detector is located on the front of the lid crimp unit to catch any potential lidding misses. This stops the conveyor and cycle until the situation is remedied and then the cycle can be resumed. This helps to prevent spills and dangerous contamination.

Our ever popular cone style fill heads contribute to the usability, cleanliness, and productivity of this filling machine. Although the ABA-COV-85F heads were supplied with this machine, the versatility of our cone style fill heads as well as the quick and easy changeovers makes it easy to switch out fill heads for maximum results and throughput. The ABA-COV-85F fill heads have a 2 inch S-line inlet, a 3.32 inch outlet, and a 4 inch S-line flush connector.

Quality, safety, and functional custom design are all imperative to us at ABA and we strive to make each of our machines the best fit for our individual customers. <![CDATA[ABA-M394- Top & Bottom Fill, Net Weight Machine]]> https://www.abaltd.com/blog/ABA-M394-blog/ ABA-M394 is a fully automatic, 6 head, net weight filling machine designed to fill in both top and bottom fill modes. Supplied with a custom designed stainless steel feed hopper, this machine produces stellar results with high levels of accuracy and a large throughput.

ABA-M394 showcases two different types of fill heads - diving lance style and direct flow (top fill) style.

  • Our diving lance style fill heads are designed both for tight head containers and/or foaming or static prone products. These fill heads are used in bottom fill mode and are lowered to the bottom of the container at the beginning of the fill cycle. As the flll carriage rises, the head remains submerged in the product to prevent static build up and/or excessive foaming.
  • Our direct flow style fill head, ABA-COV-200, is also designed to fill containers with restricted openings but which do not require the caution with static or foaming. These fill heads are to be utilized in the top filling mode.

<![CDATA[ABA-M387 - Net Weight Drum Filling Machine]]> https://www.abaltd.com/blog/ABA-M387-blog/ Our newest drum filling machine, ABA-M387, is a net weight, top fill, 2 head, fully automatic filling machine. This unique machine features a number of innovative designs to help simplify the fill process and remove some of the burden from the operator.

The pop up conveyors on this machine assist with transporting the drums to the fill stations. As the drums are conveyed on initially, pop up conveyor sections direct the drums into the two fill stations and allow two more drums to be waiting behind them. This increases the speed and efficiency of the machine and works in conjunction with the alternating fill stations to ensure that the machine is constantly filling drums.

The alternating fill stations were designed as such in order to keep a continuous flow of high viscosity extruded product to the drums. The alternations work as such: the machine fills lane 1 and lane 2 is conveyed into place. As lane 1 finishes and the drum is conveyed out of the fill area, lane 2 begins to fill. While lane 2 is filling, the next drum is conveyed into lane 1 so it is ready to start filling as soon as lane 2 finishes, and so on. This is an extremely efficient system and creates maximum throughput on this machine.

ABA-M387 - Net Weight Drum Filling Machine

ABA-M387 also features our new ABA-COV-85BO fill heads which have built in air shear (blow off) or nitrogen purge technology. These cone style fill heads were specifically designed with high viscosity products in mind. When the fill is completed, the forced air helps to blow off or to shear the product from the cone. This is a very effective way to prevent product getting hung up or dropping after the container has moved away.

<![CDATA[ABA-M380 - 3 Head, Net Weight Filling Machine]]> https://www.abaltd.com/blog/ABA-M380_blog/ ABA is constantly looking to innovate and improve upon our machines so that they are more accurate, more efficient, faster, and easier to use, and ABA-M380 is no exception. This fully automatic net weight filling machine is loaded with features designed to improve the operator experience, increase customer ROI, and deliver outstanding results.

This three head, net weight filling machine features a number of additional pieces of equipment including our first ever lid conveyor which feeds into our semi-automatic lid chute.

  • Starting at the beginning of the line, the 60" rotary infeed table feeds pre-loaded containers onto the conveyor to be filled. Our standard rotary tables are constructed from an aluminum frame with a plated circular feed table or are optionally available with stainless steel frames and parts. The rotary infeed table allows for an operator to load a number of empty conveyors, and then step away to work on other components of the fill cycle.
  • Our customer requested lid conveyor travels over the top of the filling area and supplies our semi-auotmatic lid chute with lids. This design allows for a continuous flow of lids and increases throughput and efficiency. Our stainless steel semi-automatic lid chute is the perfect middle ground between manual lid placement and a fully automatic lid placing machine. The design is such that as a filled container passes beneath the chute, it pulls the next lid off using the motive force of the conveyor.
  • Our 5 gallon powered roller lid press, ABA-PRESS-5GALL-P, features 5 lead in rollers and 6 powered rollers to press lids. This press utilizes a 0.5 HP motor in conjunction with the movement of the conveyor to firmly press lids down. As with all of the lid presses we supply, this is height adjustable using a crank handle on one corner of the unit.

<![CDATA[ABA-M370 - Bottom Fill Net Weight Filling Machine for C1D1]]> https://www.abaltd.com/blog/ABA-M370_blog/ Our latest bottom fill filling machine, ABA-M370, is a net weight filler designed to fill 1 and 5 gallon jugs with tight necks. Bottom fill filling machiines with diving lance style fill heads are best suited to this kind of application, especially if the product is static prone or liable to foam. In a C1D1 area, the diving lance style makes this type of filling safer by keeping the head of the lance submerged in product to prevent static transfer. As the product fills the container, the fill carriage slowly rises, pulling the head up whilst still keeping the lance submerged at the end for safety. When the fill has completed, the carriage raises completely up and the lance is removed from the container.

This machine is for a C1D1 (Class 1 Division 1) explosion proof area and features an intrinsically safe mouse on the pendant arm for controlling the HMI. Additionally, the machine was constructed using a stainless steel frame and stainless steel pendant arm to make washdown easier.

<![CDATA[ABA-M367 - Top Fill, Pneumatic, Volumetric Filling Machine C1D1]]> https://www.abaltd.com/blog/ABA-M367/ ABA-M367 is a 2 head, volumetric, pneumatically controlled filling machine designed for a C1D1 (Class 1 Division 1) area. Pneumatic filling machines provide enormous benefits for equipment operating in hazardous areas. While not widely used today due to advances in electronic technologies, pneumatic machines are still an integral part of many fill environments and are the perfect lower cost solution for hazardous areas requiring explosion proof machinery.

This machine features a swing frame for easy flushing, priming, and cleaning. These height adjustable fill heads can also be pushed around to face the rear of the machine and positioned over a tank. This allows the operator to then cycle a cleaning solution through the system over the top of a tank, or to prime the machine with product. Our swing frame design makes for a cleaner machine overall which consequently elongates the life of the parts and equipment.

The ABA-80 pumps are 1 gallon double acting piston pumps with gravity check valves. They are built with high quality stainless steel and Teflon parts and feature a 6 position selector turret for simple volume changeover.

<![CDATA[ABA-M368 - Top Fill, Pneumatic, Volumetric Filling Machine]]> https://www.abaltd.com/blog/ABA-M368/ ABA's latest volumetric filling machine, ABA-M368, is a pneumatically controlled, dual head machine. While electronically controlled machines are more common, pneumatic machines still hold an important place in many fill environments due to their ability to be suitable for hazardous areas and the lower cost of the controls. We design and build both fully and semi-automatic pneumatic filling machines.

M368 also features our very popular swing frame design for easy flushing, priming, and cleaning. To use this system, the operator must simply push the fill heads around on their swivel joints until they are over the rear of the machine. Placing a tank beneath the fill heads and using the flush function, cleanup, priming, and flushing are quick, easy, and mess free!

Also showcased on this machine are our 1 gallon volumetric piston pumps, ABA-80. At ABA we only offer double acting volumetric piston pumps because we believe they are a far superior product. Double acting means that product is always on both sides of the piston. This prevents unnecessary wear and tear on the parts, thereby extending the lifespan of the parts and the pump itself. This is also a faster and more efficient way to pump. The ABA-80 is supplied with gravity check valves, meaning that the liquid in the pump displaces and reseats the check valves itself (as opposed to being powered by air cylinders as in our powered check valve models). All of our pumps come standard with:

  • High quality stainless steel and Teflon wetted parts
  • Cast end caps, elbows, and tees
  • Quick release clamps to make cleaning and maintenance simple and easy.
  • 6 position selector turret with individual threaded stops to make volume changeover instantaneous, precise, and repeatable.

<![CDATA[ABA-M369 - Press & Semi-Auto Lid Chute]]> https://www.abaltd.com/blog/ABA-M369_PRESS_LID_CHUTE/ Although ABA is widely known for our fully and semi-automatic liquid filling machines, we also design, manufacture, and supply other smaller or additional equipment to boost productivity in filling lines. ABA-M369 is a 12.5’ conveyor section with a stainless steel frame and featuring a semi-automatic lid chute and a 5 gallon roller lid press.

Our semi-automatic lid chute, ABA-PLCR-CHUTE, is the perfect middle ground between manual lid placement and a fully automatic 5 gallon lid placer. This stainless steel chute holds a number of 5 gallon lids (in this case, 6) which are then pulled off the chute by the motive force of the containers as they pass beneath it. The paddles are adjustable so the chute can accomodate different sizes and shapes of lids. Many of our customers find this is a great balance between manual placement and full automation and have seen increased throughput and efficiency as a result.

The 5 gallon roller lid press, ABA-PRESS-5NAR features a crank handle on one corner of the unit for simple height adjustment. The rollers on this press unit have 1/4" thick steel walls and are mounted on 1/4" stainless steel shafts using shielded bearings, and the guard cover over the chains and sprocket is constructed of stainless steel.

This equipment was designed to place and close 5 gallon plastic lids.

<![CDATA[ABA-M363- Top Fill, Net Weight, Z Frame Machine]]> https://www.abaltd.com/blog/ABA-M363_Top_Fill_Net_Weight_Z-Frame/ ABA-M363 is a net weight, top fill, liquid filling machine designed for a C1D2 (Class 1, Division 2) explosion proof area featuring 6 fill heads. This machine has a host of unique and custom designed features to help make it a more efficient and cost-saving unit.

The 6 fill lanes on this machine can be used in any combination, providing a versatile and dynamic system with which to get a high throughput. The z-frame (push across) conveyor is also designed with productivity and profitability in mind. The design is such that there are 6 containers waiting behind the fill lanes so that as soon as the 6 containers under the fill heads have been filled with product and pushed forward, the 6 empty containers are pushed into place and 6 more are pre-loaded behind them. This system keeps a constant flow of containers moving into and out of the fill area.

As the filled containers are conveyed away from the fill area, they pass beneath our high speed lid dropper unit, ABA-LDHS which is outfitted with a downstacker chute for additional lid capacity. The standard capacity of these units is a 24" hopper, but the downstacker provides an additional 72" capacity. Our lid droppers come with starwheels to perfectly align the lids on the containers prior to them going beneath the press. The lid dropper drops a lid onto the filled containers as they are moved underneath it and then the lids are pressed on by our 1 gallon roller lid press, ABA-PRESS-1NAR (our LDHS's are not stand-alone units and must always be mounted to one of our roller lid press units). Our 1 gallon lid press features 19 rollers to firmly press on lids and can accomodate anything from 1/2 pint through 1 gallon containers. Like all of our lid presses, a crank handle located on one corner of the unit makes for simple height adjustment, and the sprockets and chains are covered by a stainless steel sheet metal cover.

<![CDATA[ABA-M364 - Top fill, pneumatic, volumetric machine]]> https://www.abaltd.com/blog/ABA-M364_Top_Pneumatic_Volumetric/ ABA-M364 is a fully automatic, volumetric filling machine with pneumatic controls. Although pneumatic machines don't have the functionality and diagnostic feedback of electrical machinery, they do have an important place in fill environments due to their simplicity, speed, and easy convertability to an explosion proof design.

This machine is a dual head with a swing frame design. The benefit of our swing frame design is easy cleaning, priming, and flushing of the system. In order to achieve this, the operator simply pushes the fill heads around to the rear of the machine and positions them over a flush tank, then pushes the flush pushbutton on the pendant arm, and allow the system to cycle through until it is sufficiently cleaned or primed.

ABA-M364 - top fill, pneumatic, volumetric filling machine

This machine showcases our 1 gallon double acting volumetric piston pumps, the ABA-80's. These pumps feature our gravity check valves, meaning that the force of the liquid itself is what seats and unseats the check valves. All of our pumps are built with stainless steel and Teflon wetted parts and cast end caps, tees, and elbows. The pumps also have quick release clamps for ease of maintenance. All the pumps we offer are double acting, meaning that they have liquid on both sides of the piston. This design means that all of the parts receive less wear and the lifespan and efficiency of the pumps is vastly increased.

<![CDATA[ABA-M360-Topoff]]> https://www.abaltd.com/blog/ABA-M360_Topoff/ ABA-M360 topoff system uses Anthony Barber Associates cone style fill head part number ABA-COV-100 instead of spray nozzles. The result is, a gentler flow of liquid onto the surface of the already filled containers without exerting so much force as to deeply penetrate the liquid. This system thus gently deposits an anti-skimming agent such as water or glycol onto the surface of the filled container.

<![CDATA[ABA-M358 Top fill, net weight machine]]> https://www.abaltd.com/blog/ABA-M358_Top_fill_net_weight/ ABA-M358 is a top fill, net weight filling machine. This dual head machine features a stainless steel gravity feed tank to supply product to the fill heads.

For lidding, this machine has our a semi-automatic lid chute to place lids and our 5 gallon roller lid press to firmly press lids onto the containers.

  • Our lid chute, ABA-PLCR-CHUTE, is a semi-automatic lidding option for larger sized containers. This is the perfect middle ground between manual placement of lids and our fully automatic 5 gallon lid placer, ABA-LPHSC-5. The stainless steel chute can hold a number of pre-loaded lids (in this case 6) which are then pulled from the chute by the motive force of the containers as they pass beneath it. Adjustable paddles can accomodate different sizes and shapes of lids.
  • Our 5 gallon roller lid press, ABA-PRESS-5NAR, features 32 gradually declining steel rollers to press lids onto containers. The press is height adjustable using a crank handle on one corner of the unit, and the bearings and chains associated with this are safely covered by a stainless steel sheet metal cover.

<![CDATA[ABA-M345 - 4 Head Net Weight Machine]]> https://www.abaltd.com/blog/ABA-M345_4_Head_Net_Weight_Machine/ ABA's latest net weight machine, ABA-M345, is a 4 head inline filler designed for a C1D1 area. ABA proudly offers an extensive line of intrinsically safe machines for C1D1 (Class 1 Division 1) and C1D2 (Class 1, Division 2) environments. One of the more popular features on our explosion proof machinery is the intrinsically safe mouse. This takes the place of the hard to work with intrinsically safe touch screen covers and makes the HMI far more user friendly and easy to navigate. The mouse is located on our movable pendant arm so it is readily accessible to the operator.

This machine also features our high speed lid dropper, ABA-LDHS, mounted to our 1 gallon roller lid press, ABA-PRESS-1NAR.

  • The LDHS lid dropper can drop both metal and plastic lids from 1/2 pint through 1 gallon size. It is not a standalone unit, so it must be mounted to one of our lid press units. It features starwheel sets to center the lids before the containers pass beneath the lid press. The standard vertical hopper has a 24 inch capacity but an optional downstacker can be fitted which has a 72 inch capacity. Size changeovers are simple and quick qith ratchet handles (no tools required) and height adjustment achieved via the lid press.
  • The ABA-PRESS-1NAR can press lids from 1/2 pint through 1 gallon containers and features a crank handle on one corner of the unit to make height adjustments easy. The sprockets and chains associated with this are covered by a stainless steel sheet metal cover.

<![CDATA[ABA-M343 - LPHSC-5PA]]> https://www.abaltd.com/blog/ABA-M343_LPHSC_5PA/ Our 5 gallon high speed lid placer, ABA-M343, was designed as an add on to an existing machine, but has its own intrinsically safe controls and an intrinsically safe mouse. The existing machine was made for a C1D1 explosion proof area, so the lid placer had to be up to those standards as well. The independent controls on this unit mean that it could be moved to another machine, fill line, or area of the pland and still operate. Our very popular intrinsically safe mouse makes navigating the HMI quick and efficient.

This machine will place both plastic and metal lids of varying sizes, shapes, and diameters and various height containers. The design of the lid placer mimics our roller lid presses for the height adjustment which is achieved through a crank handle with chain and bearings (all safely covered by a stainless steel sheet metal cover). Adjustable release paddles allow for different shaped lids to be placed.

This unit also features in-feed linestops to automatically space containers and automatic lid priming keeps the lid chute full and ready for the next container. Low lid stack notifications warn the operator that lids need to be replenished, and the placer automatically stops when it is out of lids.

<![CDATA[ABA-M342 Top Fill, Volumetric Machine]]> https://www.abaltd.com/blog/ABA-M342_Top_Fill_Volumetric_Machine/ ABA's latest volumetric machine, ABA-M342, is a 2 head, top fill filling machine with 1 gallon pumps and swing frame.

Our ABA-80 volumetric piston pumps are extremely popular, and for good reason! Like all of the pumps we make, they are double acting, crafted from high quality parts, are easy to use and maintain, and produce fast, accurate results. When referring to a pump being "double acting" what we mean is that there is always product on both sides of the piston. This protects the parts of the pump from unnecessary wear which increases the lifespan of the parts and the pump as a whole. This is also the more efficient and accurate way to pump and produces faster results. The wetted parts on all of our pumps are made from stainless steel and Teflon and all pumps feature cast tees, elbows, and end caps. A 6 position selector turret allows for simple volume changeover, and cleaning and maintenance is a breeze with quick release clamps.

Another popular feature on this machine is our swing frame design. With the two fill heads mounted using swivel joints, an operator simply needs to push the fill heads to the back of the machine over a tank, and using the HMI, initiate a flush cycle. This easy procedure reduces waste, mess, and time spent cleaning or priming the system.

<![CDATA[ABA-M339 3 Head Top & Bottom Fill Volumetric Machine]]> https://www.abaltd.com/blog/M339_Volumetric/ ABA-M339 is a 3 head, top and bottom filling volumetric machine with a Servo controlled fill carriage featuring diving lance fill heads. The fill carriage is enclosed in protective guarding to protect operators and employees (for filming purposes, these safety doors are shown open in the video below).

The Servo motor allows for precise, repeatable, and quick movements and fill cycles and is easily controlled and adjusted. At the beginning of the fill cycle, the diving lance fill heads are lowered to the bottom of the containers and the fill cycle begins. As the liquid fills the container, the Servo motor raises the fill carriage whilst keeping the end of the fill heads constantly submerged under the surface of the liquid. This prevents both foaming and static build-up and leads to a safer, cleaner, and more accurate fill.

This machine also features our 1 gallon double acting positive displacement volumetric piston pumps, ABA-80. The three pumps are positioned such that the selector turrets are easily accessible from the front of the machine just beneath the fill area. These selector turrets quickly and simply adjust the volume being filled by the pumps. Our pumps are all made with high quality stainless steel and Teflon wetted parts with cast elbows, tees, and end caps. Our highly effective pumps are double acting, meaning that with liquid on both sides of the piston at all times, the pump has a longer lifespan and less unnecessary wear and tear.

<![CDATA[ABA-M340 2 head volumetric filling machine]]> https://www.abaltd.com/blog/ABA-M340_Top_Fill_Volumetric/ ABA-M340 is a top fill, dual head, volumetric filling machine with one gallon pumps. This machine has swing frame heads to allow for easy flushing and priming as well as a lid dropper and roller lid press.

Our 1 gallon double acting volumetric piston pumps with gravity check valves, ABA-80, feature on this machine. Like all of the pumps we offer at ABA, these are constructed using high quality stainless steel and Teflon wetted parts and cast end caps, tees, and elbows. All of our pumps are also double acting, as we believe these to be far superior to single acting pumps. Double acting means that product is always on both sides of the piston, increasing the lifespan of the pump and all of the component parts by decreasing unnecessary wear.

M340 2 head, volumetric filling machine

The swing frame design on this machine is a very popular option on dual head fillers. The idea is such that the fill heads can be pushed towards the back of the machine (they are on swivel joints) until they are hanging over a product tank or other recepticle. Then, the operator initiates a flush cycle using the HMI on the pendant arm, and the pumps will continually cycle product, cleaner, or water through the system until it is properly cleaned or primed. This is a much cleaner system and prevents major spills and messes.

Our LDHS lid dropper unit is designed for dropping lids from 1/2 pint through 1 gallon. These are not stand-alone units and must be mounted to a roller lid press. The lid droppers are easily size adjustable using ratchet handles on the unit and do not require additional tooling, rendering size changeovers very simple. The standard hopper has a 24 inch lid capacity and we also offer a downstacker which provides an additional 72 inches of capacity. The lid droppers are also supplied with starwheels which are designed to correctly align the lids before the container passes beneath the lid press.

Lastly, this machine features our 1 gallon roller lid press, ABA-PRESS-1NAR. This press has 19 steel rollers to firmly press lids on and is height adjustable using a crank handle on one corner of the unit. The sprockets and chains associated with the height adjustment are safely covered with a stainless steel sheet metal cover. The 1 gallon press is designed for pressing on plastic and metal lids from 1/2 pint through 1 gallon containers.

<![CDATA[M329 - Top Fill, 3 Head, Volumetric Machine]]> https://www.abaltd.com/blog/M329_Top_Fill_3_Head_Volumetric_Filling_Machine/ Anthony Barber Associates machine ABA-M329 is a 3 head, top fill, volumetric filling machine featuring a lid placer with lid bung orientation, 5 gallon double acting volumetric piston pumps, and a roller lid press.

Our 5 gallon positive displacement double acting piston pumps, ABA-2000, are built with high quality stainless steel and Teflon wetted parts and cast end caps, tees, and elbows. As with all the pumps we make, these are easy to clean and maintain with quick release clamps and easily removable parts. This machine features 3 handles on the front guard of the machine directly in front of the fill area to quickly and easily adjust the stroke length and therefore the volume of the fill. Each handle is outfitted with a counter so that all of the pumps can be set to the exact same number. At ABA we only offer double acting pumps, meaning product is on both sides of the piston at all times. This increases the lifespan of the pump and protects all the parts from unnecessary wear and tear.

Top fill, 3 head volumetric paint filling machine with lid placer and roller lid press

Our 5 gallon lid placer, ABA-LPHSC-5, is a chute based design which can place both plastic and metal lids as well as a variety of shapes. The adjustable release paddles allow for flexibility in size and shape of the lids being placed and help to self-center the lids onto the containers. The unit features low lid stack notifications and automatically stops containers when it is out of lids. The chute is height adjustable utilizing the same system as our roller lid presses - a simple crank handle to raise and lower the chute to best accomodate the containers being filled. This particular model on ABA-M329 showcases a bung orientation system. The unit locates the bung on the lid and rotates it to a predetermined location to match up correctly to the incoming containers.

Lastly, M329 boasts our 5 gallon roller lid press, ABA-PRESS-5NAR. This press has 32 x 1" diameter gradually declining rollers to firmly press lids onto the containers. A stainless steel sheet metal cover on top of the unit protects operators from the chains and sprockets associated with the height adjustment of the press. Height adjustment is achieved using the crank handle located on one corner of the press.

<![CDATA[ABA-M327-2 Top fill, 2 head volumetric machine]]> https://www.abaltd.com/blog/ABA-M327-2_Top_Fill_2_Head_Volumetric_Paint_Filling_Machine/ ABA-M327-2 is a two head volumetric filling machine with a swing frame, rotary infeed table, and roller lid press. Our popular swing frame design on two head units allows for quick and clean flushing, priming, and cleaning of the fill line. The operator just needs to push the fill heads around on their swivel joints until they are at the back of the machine, ideally over a tank. Then, select the flush option on the HMI and the system will cycle product, water, cleaning solution, etc. through until the operator stops the flush cycle.

This machine features our 1 gallon positive displacement double acting piston pumps, ABA-80. All of our pumps are made with high quality stainless steel, Teflon, and cast parts and are designed to be easy to clean and maintain with quick release clamps. We only offer double acting piston pumps, because they are the most efficient and longest lasting. With product on both sides of the piston, unnecessary wear on the parts is avoided and the longevity of the pump is extended.

Also featured on this machine is our 60" diameter rotary infeed table. This table is made with an aluminum frame and a plated circular top, but can be optionally supplied with stainless steel frame and top. Rotary tables are a huge advantage to operators when increasing speed and efficiency of a fill line by allowing them to pre-load a large number of containers and then move on to manage or work with other aspects of the fill line.

Our 5 gallon roller lid press, ABA-PRESS-5NAR, is constructed using 32 x 1" declining rollers which firmly press lids onto containers. There is a height adjustment handle on one corner of the unit and the chain and sprockets are covered for operator safety with a stainless steel sheet metal cover. Also featured on this press is our no lid detector unit which, as the name suggests, detects when a container passes beneath it with no lid. If a lidless container is detected, the conveyor stops and the fill cycle continues until the containers are filled and then stops as well until the error is rectified. This prevents large scale spills or congestion on the line.

<![CDATA[M325 - Bottom/Top Fill, Volumetric, Explosion-Proof Filling Machine]]> https://www.abaltd.com/blog/ABA_Bottom_Top_Fill_Volumetric_Explosion-proof_Filling_Machine_Model_M325/ We just sent out our latest volumetric bottom and top fill, explosion proof machine model ABA-M325. This machine features numerous pieces of equipment designed to increase the speed, efficiency, and throughput of the machine such as our first semi-automatic lid chute, double acting positive displacement pumps, and a dual crimp station.

This machine was designed for a Class 1 Division 1 (C1D1) hazardous environment, and boasts our popular intrinsically safe mouse on the pendant arm. This mouse makes navigating with the HMI simple, efficient, and safe.

This dual head diving lance machine has a Servo controlled fill carriage to raise and lower the fill lances with precision, accuracy, and speed. The program also features a "foam control" fill, which allows the pumps to fill slowly until the bottom of the lance is submerged, and then switch to fast filling for the remainer of the cycle.

ABA-M325 features our 5 gallon double acting piston pumps, ABA-2000. As with all the pumps we supply, these are made with high quality stainless steel and Teflon wetted parts and cast end caps, elbows, and tees. All of the pumps ABA makes are double acting, meaning there is product on both sides of the piston at all times. This keeps the cylinder walls and seals lubricated and prevents wear on these parts, thus prolonging the life of the pump. Quick release clamps makes cleaning and maintenance simple, and a hand wheel allows for quick and simple stroke length adjustment.

M325 also debuts one of our newest features, a semi-automatic lid chute model ABA-PLCR-CHUTE

ABA-PLCR-CHUTE semi-automatic lid placer chute

This lid chute allows for the operator to load lids (in this case, up to 4) and then step away and work with the machine until the 4 lids have been used and need replenishing. The semi-automatic chute is the perfect middle ground between fully manual placement of lids and a larger, fully automatic lid placing machine. The motive force of the conveyor and the container itself pulls the lid from the chute, a simple but effective system.

Lastly, the dual crimp station showcased on this machine features custom crimp tools designed specifically utilizing the customer's lids. Both crimpers are enclosed in heavy duty guarding with safety interlocked doors for operator and personnel safety.

<![CDATA[ABA-M333 - Semi-Automatic, Net Weight Machine]]> https://www.abaltd.com/blog/Blog_ABA_Newest_Semi-Automatic_Net_Weight_Filling_Machine_Model_M333/ ABA-M333 is a net weight, semi-automatic filling machine designed with one head, but two sets of wetted parts to avoid cross contamination. This means that only 1 head can fill at a time, but that each head can be dedicated to filling a particular product so that no cross contamination can occur. Switching betwen fill heads is simple and is accomplished by a switch mounted to the control panel. As with all of our machines, the fill heads are height adjustable and can be easily swapped out for a different size or style of fill head.

This machine was supplied with a foot pedal for initiating the fill cycle in addition to the cycle start button on the control box. The foot pedal allows the operator to start the cycle from a distance, especially useful if he or she is engaged in a different portion of the filling or lidding cycle.

ABA-M333 features our cone style fill heads, ABA-COV-85. These fill heads have 2 inch S-line inlets and 2.875 inch outlets and are primarily designed for filling gallon cans. The benefit of our wildly popular cone style fill heads is the clean and efficient filling. Unlike capillary heads which have stringing problems and issues with dripping, the cone style fill heads snap closed cleanly.
